I still don't understand why everyone loves those funny looking plastic shoes!

I have seen them on sale here in a large department store but never seen anyone buying or wearing them over here. I wanted to ask what they are made of....are they really plastic? My feet get hot and sticky in anything that's not leather or suede and the result after a few hours of wearing is blisters from rubbing so I stick to a couple of brands of sandals that don't hurt my feet.

I'm interested to know why they are so popular.....I've read here that several forum members wear them and say they are comfortable but I know I'd have to wear them with thick socks LOL.

Crocs are THE UGLIEST SHOES bar none. I admit it freely.

They have also allowed me to resume a somewhat normal life. They are soft and have cush (they are made out of some resin type material, not plastic). Some years ago my knees started hurting, limiting my mobility. Even today I cannot stand for periods of time. I can walk, but standing is painful. The Crocs have given me back some of my life because of their comfort. I have seen nurses and chefs, who spend time on their feet, swear by them. I used to dread summer because sandals just didn't provide enough cushioning.

I won't wear them with anything other than casual clothes, I draw the limit there.

Sharon, to answer your question, I think 'sweat' is an individual thing. I get moist but it doesn't bug me. Sometimes I'll wear socks with mine. Also, I have had friends come from Israel, where they are popular, and they say the more macho the Israeli, the wilder the Croc colors they wear! So I guess its a regional thing.

Will I miss them when they go out of fashion? As long as there is an alternative!

Okay Jessy you've sold me! Next time I'm in that department store I'll try on a pair and maybe buy some....to wear with socks....here in the winter. If they help cushion the joints then I can understand. I love cushy shoes which is why I now always buy Mephistos or Clarks's with deep rubber bottoms. My kitchen floor is hard tile and although I don't spend much time there (heheheh) it can be a little tiring to stand while preparing and cleaning up after dinner. I also do a lot of walking around outdoors and as it's all up and down hills here, I like to have good traction and a shock absorbing sole.

So if I do get a pair of those crocs, I'll come back here and show them off! LOL.

Batali's famous for those bright orange crocs. He's a rebel I tell ya! Jess, you shoulda got those maryjanes or ballerina flats - they were kinda cute.

Ashley wears mine a LOT, they're very fashionable at college, apparently. My feet do "sweat" if I wear them without socks, though.

Makayla loves them and has a bright pink pair, like "Mommy and Aunt Ashley". She loves her "trocs" because they can wash up when they get dirty and she can put them on by herself. Last year's purple ones got handed down to her cousin Linsey, who was very excited to "match Makayla".

Easier on the joints? I have problematic knees, a horse fell on me when I was a teenager, but the Crocs don't seem to make a difference for me. I figure nothing is going to make a difference to MY knees except walking every day.

I haven't tried Crocs yet. I think they would be good in the kitchen because I have a hard tile floor and my legs get tired. I hate that floor and would never get it again. I don't think I'd wear Crocs out of the house, though.

I have a pair of rubber gardening shoes that make my feet sweat like crazy. I finally planted flowers in them.

A lot of the nurses here wear them, in white. The kids are into the gibbet thing. I think it's fun.

Jessy, I like your new crocs, the pink are cute (princess like...lol) and I'm off to Costco this afternoon, if ever I can get the laundry caught up! I'm glad you told me about your experience with Crocs, because I was miserable at DL and bought some (even with mouse ears, I didn't care!). What comfort!

I have terrible knees, a lot of pain, multiple troubles including a meniscus tear and arthritis. I also was diagnosed with advanced arthritis in my lower lumbar about 9 years ago, as well. Funny, I rarely have back pain. I might give them a try if they will ease the knee pain. I think the flip-flop-type is pretty cute.

Well, I hope they help those of you who buy them, becasue they are CHEAP. But like Annie - they may not be for everyone! Glad you got through Disneyland with them, Brenda, I know how much walking you did.

I have bad knees, too, and I've been wearing my brown crocs to work the past week and they're fine! I'm on my feet all day and they haven't been hurting at all.

I saw a man yesterday, slacks, tie and shirt, and brown crocs. Looked funny..but comfy!

Where I work, a LOT of girls with leg issues have been wearing them and LOVE them!!
(because they are not in the dress code the girls have to get a doctors note LOL-seems silly doesn't it??)

I tried to buy Crocs, the thong type. Nope. The store did not have my size. In fact I just checked shoebuy.com and they don't have my size either in any color. Not meant to be for now.

Another crocoholic here - recently bought my 4th pair - Cleo sandals in brown.

They took me all through Ireland - especially walking all day in Dublin. Never could have done that B/C - before crocs. I alternated between my regular khaki crocs and the sandals, they're each like walking on a cloud!

I don't leave home without my Crocs. My dentist told me yesterday that his daughter lives in Italy and they are really popular there. He said they are selling them in the dress shoe styles there with heels.

$20.00 Crocs..that is such a great price..after 3 pairs of wannabes I did get a real pair..I like the comfort so much:) The foam/rubber is definitely different on the real ones..

I only have one pair: the red ones that Mom24kids sent to the Canny Campers. I always wear them with socks, and I have not had an incidence of heel pain since I started wearing them in the kitchen when I cook all day.
And I have to wear them to Paney Camp in August and to the Pigeon Forge Pajama Party in November, cause Cathy says you have to wear them. Those of us who get together are officially in the "Red Croc Society."

LOL Sherry I think all CFers who want to be are Red Croc Society members whether we are able to get together or not.

One thing I want to warn people about is a 'growing pain' of Crocs - the company.

I bought one pair of Caymans (same as the Beach, what we all think of as 'Crocs', but a bit slimmer) at a store. I returned to buy another, different colored pair, same size. I noticed that the new pair was a full size larger with my old ones when held up to each other. And other crocs I have bought have all differed slightly. All three were made in different places - Colorado, China, Canada. The molds must be different. So please check your sizing carefully and be on the lookout!

I just realized why I won't wear the clog type Crocs. I'm short and for a brief time in high school I was chubby. This coincided with my stint in boarding school. Everyone got a nickname. Mine was "Hobbit." Need I say, I wasn't flattered! Those shoes make me afraid the nickname would resurface.

I have came close to buying them numerous times but my (DC#3,DD#2), forbids me from doing so. I have tried to fight her but the force is strong. I'm glad they are comfy.

OMG, I had no idea there were croc sandles. I'd really like those since the normal ones are a bit wide on my feet. I hate hot feet and I think it must be the looseness and all the holes, cause my feet never feel hot in them and this is in hot, humid MD.

When I was having my CAT scan yesterday, the nurse said she had some fake crocs that came from a store that sells them for $5!!! However, I was zoning out a bit and missed the name of the store. Oh well, I have three pair and with my tie-die blue ones from Payless I have black (kept in the car in case of a downpour), my kitchen RED, and the wacky blue. I wish I could get DH to try them...size 13s would look amazing.

Hey Jessy.... I just bought my first pair, the other day and I love them !!! I didn't like them at first, and now I love them !!! They grow on you. Kind of like you !!! LOL Diana55 P.S...You inspired me to buy some, but my kids think I'm nuts.

Jessy's right -- you have to try them on. The sizes are a mess. I've even tried some on where one shoe was a different size than the other.

Maureen, I've seen some people wearing some really cool new styles around town here this last week, so I just went to their website and found lots of new styles -- some new sandals, cold weather shoes, water/beach shoes, heels, etc. Check it out.

Add me to your list of Croc Lovers. I have 3 pairs like you do; black, navy blue and red. I also have a flip flop pair in black. I wear those most of the time.

Does anyone find that you get shocked more at the grocery store when you touch the freezer case handle or the metal shelving?

I think I read somewhere that this was a problem with them. So now I open the freezer doors using my list; I stick half of it thru the handle, grab it with my other hand and pull the door open. People probably think I have a germ phobia or something! I dont' care!! I hate getting shocked.

Shaun I get MAJOR shocked. Apparently its an issue that needs to be addressed - I've read about it on the Health and Beauty forum.

I'm out of control. I cannot be stopped! DS #1 screamed when he saw me in these -

I have Payless "crocs"...and I love them..except the mary jane style.. they hurt...
But I couldn't have made it through a whole summer of working 6-9 hour days on concreted at the Upick farm last year without them!
I was just at Costco..and my store doesn't carry them!!!! Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaa

Oh and you're green ones go very well with your cropped pants!

My DS#2 insisted that I buy him a pair of those lime green ones. We wear the same size shoes, so I gladly bought him some. Both of my kids wear the same size shoe as me this year so I'm using them as my excuse to buy all sorts of colors of Crocs.

Jessica, I don't think ANYTHING is going to help my old knees. When I injured them (oh, about 35 years ago, LOL) they didn't do all the things they do with knees today. When they get bad enough, I'll take a trip to that ortho guy and see what he says.....

Ashley loves the Crocs, though, and wears them to work at her second job, as a cashier at a local campground convenience store. Applebee's makes her wear non-slip black sneakers and she says they aren't nearly as comfortable.

She won't wear them without socks either, both of us have sweaty feet, I guess!
