.......

We had the time of our lives!!! The weather was great, and the shopping was Fantastic. As you can see....Rachelle spent all her money

The local birds loved her too.....

Here was our view from our hotel room....

It was so nice to get up every morning and watch the Surfer's come in on the waves. Diana55

the one I got my husband has a holster thing that the phone snaps into and he wears it on his hip. He loves that part. He did some how manage to break a part on it, I called them and they were incredibly nice, sent a new one right out. I didn't even have to prove ownership. I recommend them not just because it's a great product but also some of the best customer service I have dealt with. edit to say that the one he has is the Defender series which comes with the holster included. should I paint both of my daughters room pink?

Several thoughts: Yes to painting it whatever color the child wants. I definitely buy into the school of "this is a small way for the child to express her desires and give her some control over her world". Painting the room white (or another very neutral color) and accessorizing with bedsheets, etc. in her current favorite color is equally good ... and easier than painting. When my girls were both very small and I was buying clothes, sippy cups, blankets, whatever, I often gave one pink and one purple. My oldest started asking for the purples, so it kinda became purple-for-her-pink-for-the-baby. I think my girls were typical: when they were very small, they were pinky-pink-pink girls ... then about the time they hit 1st or 2nd grade, pink was O.U.T. OUT. If you paint pink now, expect to repaint when they hit this next phase. Incidentally, my oldest never came back to pink; she thinks it doesn't suit her skin tone and greatly prefers "cool colors", whereas my youngest now adores pink again ... mixed with neutrals.

Yes, crocheting is probably easier to learn and you don't have to worry about dropping stitches. But I beg you, please don't waste your money on either of those "kits". The one that has 8 "bon bons" gives you about 66 yards per bon bon. And you'll get even less per bon bon for the kit with 24 bon bons. Less than 22 yards, a mere third of the 8 bon bon kit. They would be lucky to crochet a 3" x 3" swatch with one of those. I crocheted this swatch with 66 yards of worsted weight, which is just a teensy bit finer than the DK provided in the kit and an "H" hook. It's about 5" x 7". I crocheted this piece with 66 yards of worsted weight and a "J" hook, like one provided in the kit. It's about 4" x 8". Neither of those pieces is enough to make anything. And I looked at the ebooks they provide in the kit. The only patterns you will get are for children. You would be much better off picking up a 4 ounce (or even larger) skein of worsted weight or DK yarn (maybe a variegated) and a couple of hooks (I'd suggest G & H) and a book that will actually teach them to crochet. You can purchase an inexpensive book that will give them the basics of crocheting. Don't bother with a book of patterns just yet. There are so many free patterns online. Have them learn to chain, single crochet double crochet, and half-double crochet. Let them start off making a chain as wide as they would like a scarf and just go to town, back and forth with either the single, double, or half-double stitch. One hefty skein will be more than enough to make a scarf. Seriously, look at the size of a bon bon. That's not a tightly wound ball of yarn. It's a puff of yarn. That hand could probably compress it to less than half its size. I'm sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but even at half the price, it's a waste of money. And I DO hope the girls learn to crochet or knit and LOVE whichever you choose.

Diana, you're both beautiful, and I love those "tropical" dresses.

What a wonderful time you both had. Somehow I know that if I went with Ashley, she'd spend all her money shopping too, LOL.

Yes Nancy we did go a Laua. That is where we were when the pics were taken....
The Laua was at the "Royal Hawaiian" and that is where we stayed. It was just wonderful there. The best part was waking up in the morning and looking out onto the water and seeing the "Surfers" come in....
We had a Great Vacation !!!

Diana!!! You look beautiful and so happy to be with your daughter in Hawaii. Hey, ya think if I bring my daughters to Hawaii that I'll look as good as you? Off to make the reservations. LOL!

One of my favorite things to do when we were in CA on vacation was to wake up early, sit on the balcony, drink my coffee and watch the surfers.

Wow, I had no idea there was such a looker hiding behind your name. Do you remember an actress from the 50's named Connie Stevens? You remind me of her, in her youth. Not that I can remember the 50's.....

Hoo-hah! I didn't open this thread because I thought it was the other one with the skellies!

The dress turned out great and you look wunderbar in it! I visited the Royal Hawaiian when I was there awhile back - Waikiki was still decorated for Christmas and all th hotels were decked out - so pretty. I love the view of Diamond Head from there.

Your daughter must've had a blast watching all the tanned young kahunas!

Looking good! You know there's a webcam at Duke's statue don't you? Did you wave at us?

Here is a link that might be useful: Duke's webcam (what's with no more direct linking in the thread?!!)

You can still link. That link calls a program -- that's not allowed.

I'd agree, but it wouldn't let me link from thread on GardenWeb to another right before this post. It wasn't program related in any way. ???????

Gina....Yes my little "Miss" had her eyes on one of the dancers in the Laua. He looked like a young Elvis Presley. I couldn't help staring at him myself. I've been told that I looked like Debbie Renolds, but not Connie Stevens. ROFLMAO !!!! Diana55
