AVAST- renewing pop-ups

I switched to AVAST when I had problems with AVG last month. Since then I get pop-ups telling me my free subscription is about to expire. Did I download the wrong one? Its happening on both computers I switched over.

you need to do the registration on them that is all once you do that it will stop doing that. Just go to the AVAST site and follow the directions on how to register. What version are you using is it 4.8 or 5?

Actually it should tell you on the pop up how to register also

I went ahead and bought it and so far the support has been great. When my computer was down, they helped me get it back without a problem. When I go to Windows 7, they have already supplied me information to reinstall it. Like I say so far, so good.

AVAST has always done that it tells you in the install directions that you will need to click the register button and it will email you the code number which you just enter into your AVAST program super easy, it last about a year then you just do it again and get a number and it is good for another year. Never had it ask me to buy anything or email me anything other than my code. Free registration see right on the front page where you down load it are the directions and how to do it. Plus on the left side there are the 2 pdf files I suggest everyone read or print to have handy, it gives all the info on how to set up AVAST and how to use features including the screensaver scan feature.

Since you have something of Norton on your computer I would download their Removal Tool. It only been a few days since I removed Norton AntiVirus from my computer using their Removal Tool, I highly recommend it. I had already removed Norton but as a test for you I ran it again. No problem, you just have to restart when it done. Doesn't take long. You do what you think best. 2003 or 2008 will be listed when you get their. Try 2007 Norton Removal Tool

unfortunately it is not the first time zonealarm has chosen some really bad marketing methods, they did one of these type some time back and of course the adding of the toolbars in the free version has had it put in the Hall of Shame for a while now. It is still a very good firewall and free is nice but I am sure many will leave them due to their methods. As to other free firewalls Online Armor and Outpost are good options. here is a list from Gizmo's Best Free Firewall I will add this, I and several others in the security community no longer recommend Comodo due to some of their business practices, so consider that before choosing it and you can of course do some research on that to find out more info. Thanks, Raven. I just registered-version 5.0.677. I never read the pop-up. All I saw were the big letters saying my subscription would expire in 2 days. My fault and now I can stop it on the other one.
