Any High End 30' Deep Refrigerators?
Comments (27)Idsy - with respect you actually said: "preferably in a 48" width" which , given your other strict parameters means 48". How are we to extrapolate that 52" would be OK for you but 72" is not ??? Re: the cites, one makes no mention of 30" deep built ins, only some folks think "counter depth " units are too shallow - not the same thing. The GW thread is basically one other poster that would like a "built - in " at 30" - so it's two out of a thousand posters here that would like such a product - not a ground swell - which brings me to another point. 30" deep counters are not going to catch on - it's bad ergonomically for 99+ % of the population. Basketball players , sure. The rest of us, no. In addition, do you think you have eureaka'd onto something that professional designers haven't thought about or tried in the last 30 years ??? If there was even the slimmest VIABLE market for this product, one of the big manuf. would roll one out, the boys in marketing would be salivating at of prospect of having the first, and only, and newest, great thing in refrigeration. Look I get it, this is America and we've grown accustomed to having access to anything we can dream up - so you should not quash your desire or imagination for this product or something else that might tickle your fancy. But.........................don't get surly because a co. doesn't jump on your latest "great idea" and produce a relatively affordable version. If you really want it someone will produce you a one off, and if you really think it has traction and will fill an untapped need you can start a business and produce them yourself and you'll sell tons of em as well as getting a free one for yourself....See MorePlease give suggestions for floorplan (reposted with clear image)
Comments (13)Dekeoboe, Thanks for posting those images within the thread. For the stools, we'll probably change the 8 stools as shown to 5 stools (one on end and two on each side) since we have 5 in our family. Lafdr, Thank you for the many comments. Our lot is 2 acres, but we probably only have about 1.2 buildable acres because of the pond and woods. Also, the lot is much deeper than it is wide so we don't have a ton of width to the lot but I appreciate the thoughts about getting more windows/natural light (which is important to us). Think we'll go ahead with the Jack N Jill bathroom. I'm guessing that the doors won't be locked much. For the stairway, we're picturing an open staircase something like this: [[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/nemo-contemporary-staircase-orlando-phvw-vp~3745201) [Modern Staircase[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/modern-staircase-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_745~s_2105) by Winter Park Home Media Design & Installation Storch Entertainment Systems So we wouldn't be able to locate the coat closet under the stairs if we opt for something like that. Still not sure on what we want to do for the sitting room. Would you remove the walls and just have a wider bedroom? We're still debating the advantages and disadvantages of the sunken room. We think it will look cool, make it easy to transition from tile in the foyer/kitchen to hardwood in the great room, and give us another 14" in ceiling height in the great room, but we understand the safety issues and some of the functionality issues that could arise. bpathome, We appreciate all comments that improve the functionality of our home. We will flip the pantry. pixie, We'll make the changes to the kids closets. Good ideas for other possibilities for that 6x8 extra space in the one bedroom. I'll discuss with my wife. You're right - we may want to add a door to the closet. I'd like to shorten the closet a little but don't know how with the current layout because we want to maintain a wall for the covered patio. Excellent idea for changing the mudroom door to enter into the hallway across from the pantry. That will give us access to the mudroom if we enter the other garage door also. My wife loves that idea and is now asking why I ever drew it the other way :). Switching to 5 stools should solve the issues with space in the island right? Yes, that circle is a fire pit. Against code to have fire pit under an enclosure? Bummer. Scrapbook and kirkhall, Thanks for the notes about the pocket door. We'll be moving that doorway to open across from the pantry. Thanks all and please keep the comments coming!...See MoreAny High End 30' Deep Refrigerators?
Comments (8)Fori, unfortunately, yes, there are reasons. I wouldn't mind spending less for a fridge at all. But: 1.) The high-end refrigerators do offer better refrigeration and keep fruits and veg longer because of better temp regulation and humidity control. I'm eating mostly raw fruit and veg, so this is very important to me. 2.) High end fridges also purportedly stay fresher, your apples don't taste like garlic, etc. 3.) The lower end fridges are usually 30 - 36" width, so even if I get a deeper fridge, I'm not getting the extra space I want and would like to have with a 48" width and 30" deep fridge (or thereabouts). 4.) I'm tall and really don't like having short refrigerators that require me to stoop for almost everything. A tall refrigerator also makes better use of the extra 6 -7' area than above fridge cabinets, which can be hard to reach even for tall people (and certainly don't keep anything cold)....See MoreNeed refrigerator advice for tricky space - Kitchen Aid or SubZero
Comments (2)If the Sub-Zero is a built-in then you will need to do more than just remove the top shelf. It is designed to be completely surrounded by cabinetry. If you go with the Kitchen Aid then other than the water and ice being internal it really is no different than what you already have and you would loose 3" in width....See Moremcmann
