Hey, Kathy.Yea,I have lots of room for big roses,I had a huge rose,and lost it last year to some thing eating all the roots off it. Ingrid, I am cutting on this bush all the time,if I didn't it would take over the entire city block.Its like the energizer battery, it keeps going and going. Florence;Hi, How have you been? the cutting for this one was about 3 ft long.I just dug a little trench and laid it down in it and covered it up,and in not time I had a nice rose growing.Only thing is,I didnt know I would have to keep cutting it back just to keep it in my own yard. TNY, more beauties! Love that Dream Weaver! Is your RI own root or grafted? I got mine 3 years ago grafted on multiflora from Steve at Wisconsin Roses. It's been potted all along and it grows like a weed! I was worried too the first winter. It was a first year budded maiden when I got it and was still fairly small going into winter. I needn't have worried. Came out of winter green to the tips and has never looked back! It blooms in big flushes all season. It does black spot though. But how could you care about a few spots when the blooms are that lovely! If you have an unheated garage or shed you can winter it in there. Put it up off the floor on something and remember to give it some water once a month all winter. As for how I winterize my pots, well, I don't have a garage and not enough room in the shed for all 30 (last year it was 60) of my pots. The only one that goes into the shed is the tree rose. The rest go into my winter pot ghetto along the back (south) wall of my house. I've explained it before but here it is again. I put all the pots together in the 3 ft. wide veggie garden strip between the brick wall of the house and my concrete patio. It's a warm micro climate there. I drive in 4 ft. wooden stakes and staple burlap all the way around them and then pack it with leaves. This usually happens Thanksgiving weekend or the first weekend in December and they come out the first week of April when the stuff underneath them starts to come up. Thank you, mantis! Most roses have more blooms and healthier foliage with lots of sun, but some like the Knockout family of roses and 'antique' roses will do well with less than optimum conditions. One of the prettiest plantings I ever saw was a bed of combined red, pink and blush Knockout roses at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. I'll look for a picture. A rose I'm growing now is doing well with not much sun is Julia Child. It's yellow, stays small and is fragrant. It got pretty straggly looking during those rainy weeks, but has put on healthy new foliage and is blooming. My absolute favorite rose for beauty, health, fragrance, large size of bloom and heat resistance is September Morn. Scroll down about 11 posts to see my pictures and description of it.

Mine came too!! I have one open bloom on dames de chenoceau and it smells wonderful. My last shipment was climbers and they all had long canes neatly tucked as well when they very well could have whacked it back . I appreciated that! I love roses unlimited!
