Question about AVG findings

I have free AVG running daily. Have been happy with it although it does have trouble updating automatically. After reading the post about AVG catching a MS file, I took a look at my vault. I found 50+ incidences of Trojans all on one day, June 23, 08 at 8:15-8:17am on that day. Nothing else shows in the vault except these Trojans on that date. Startpage CZA, Virtumonde, Foron, KillAVE,then some various downloaders.

Following Ravens suggestions, I ran Malwarebites and it didn't find anything.

Interestingly, all these Trojans were listed as IE (never use it) Active X compatibility. I suspect if these came in through IE, it was because my son probably used my computer. He only uses IE but with a limited account.

Is there reason to be concerned regarding these old findings?

if they are all in the vault they should be safe but why don't you go run this free online scan and see what it says just to be sure.

Jane,
I have 5 listings that I found in my vault for June 24, 2008. I believe that they were false positives. A Housecall scan turned up nothing.

Caroline... If you were to go to free.grisoft.com and look at the page that compares free versus the paid version you'll see mainly that the paid version offers additional protection for spyware, maybe popups, and rootkits. There's other programs that offer spyware protection and rootkit searches available for free. Urlee... no they dont accumulate, they replace old with new files.

AVG seems to have shot themselves in the foot this time. Progress means updates of course. I upgraded to AVG8 and somewhere around that time minor troubles started. For a few weeks things were not right and I was unable to pinpoint the cause. I remove a few programs and brought a few back and tried a few others, one that is no longer on my computer is AVG. Not suggesting they are the cause but with the 'adjustments' I have made my issues seem to be resolved. No doubt I will return to AVG somewhere down the road but for now I am quite happy without it.

One of the safest places to download genuine software with no unwanted installers or toolbars is Filehippo. e,g, Search for "Filehippo free AVG 2015 32 bit" or 64bit. The required download button is the top right green box that has the filename on it so you can double check it is the correct version. This applies to all free software. Mikie, I would like to open it in notepad, how would I do that please? I noticed the path as indicated is Documents and Settings\Sapphires\ApplicationData\Opera\Opera\Profile\Cache4\op003ZH.htm but when I try to find that path in Explore all I see is Documents and Settings\Sapphires and then the choices are java or cookies or desktop what's up with that? Bob, If you and Mikie think I can just delete it that's what I will probably do. Thank you all for your help.
