Google Earth- guess here would be best place to ask...

Google Earth- I have looked at a couple sites- my own home, friends, daughter's. The pics are anywhere from 4 to more years old!

I look at my house, and there is the 2 horse trailer in the yard- sold that in 2004!

My daughter's house- has my truck in front of it- that pic is 4 years old.

Friends house- one pasture still has trees in it- it has been cleared for several years.

Why are the pics old? Don't the satellites update?

Once I found a newer picture- never found it again.

They are updated every few years and dependant on the area sometimes longer. Some areas have more recent pics than others

Yahoo and Mapquest also have maps -- and there are probably others.

I'll answer for Sungold F1 and didn't go back up and see which beefstreak, or the one just called Beefsteak. There are four OP versions of the original Sungold F1, three of them developed by Reinhard Kraft In Germany, a 4th one also exists, and a 5th one may be coming soon as bred by someone here in the US. Are the current four as good as the F1? I don't think so but there are differing opinions. There have been several threads about these here at GW and if you do a search and enter Big Sungold Select I think you'll find more info aboutall 4. About OP versions of F1 hybrids in geneneral, What one does to convert an F1 to an OP is grow out the F1 and save F2 seeds. Then sow those seeds, see what you get with the plants in the next generation. And at the same time in the same season plant some F1's of that same variety for comparisons when making selections form the F2 plants. There are OP versions of Big Boy F1 and several others and I was able to get a good OP version of Ramapo F1 as well. Carolyn

I do as Owbist mentioned, I use google maps and the street view options. I think the results of both are likely about the same age. for a different view and possibly more recent try the one by microsoft, for me it shows very different views than what I see on google. Was called microsoft virtual earth now called bing maps, you can just google that. When searching for homes to buy I used all of them. you should also take a look at flash earth it lets you switch between several of them including google earth and microsoft virtual earth Flash Earth Viewer

Stacey, you have such an interesting house! Your furniture looks modern, yet somehow traditional. I don't know how to say what I want to say... And I love the lamp with the blue base. I just bought one similar and am totally in love with it. Who knew? I really like the Edgecomb Gray on the monitor, as well as the Revere Pewter. I think both of these colors contribute to an eclectic yet contemporary feel that is warmed up by the old school type fireplace. I do have a suggestion. Instead of white built-ins, why not consider having the bookcases painted in the wall color you choose? With the black slate as a centerpiece, I think it may be too choppy with the white. Particularly if you go with a gray, this might be appropriate. I love all the muted grays and gray whites that Holly does on her furniture (Life in the Fun Lane Blog) as well as Anne Turner's Mouses' Back (Farrow & Ball paint shade a browned gray) kitchen cabinets. That's the kind of thing I'm thinking for you, although maybe lighter, like the Rev. Pewter or the Edgecomb instead of the depth of Mouse's Back. Have you downloaded Google Chrome? The Google Earth website says it is required to run the new GE. On the GE website they have Earth for Chrome and they have Older Versions. Perhaps yours "upgraded" to a version that only works with Chrome. Or, have you kept up to date with the Windows 7 updates? Rather than resetting the computer back in time, you might check for updates and run those first. I've always had GE Pro and it is working for me. I have version 7.1.5.1557 built on 5/20/2015. Another place to download Google Earth is https://ninite.com/. I believe it gives you the non-pro version in a neat package. Run their package and the software is installed without you having to deal with any junk attached. I use Ninite for lots of hassle-free free software. What do you use Google Earth for? I am a local content creator for GE, so I am interested in how people use it. Here is a picture of what I do...I create the land ownership parcel lines and export the information as a Google Earth overlay file with internal links to other information.

Even Google maps is not always up to date. Just 2 weeks ago I had need to visit a friend in a 2 year old sub division, Google could not find the address. Yahoo could not find it either. Mapquest did and showed a whole sub division. On trying Google earth now I had a location it showed fields and not a single house in sight.

Sue, MS recently got into the act. It seems to be not so good as Google from my brief encounter. Perhaps I should play with it a little more before commenting.

I look around at real estate on-line and most sites are using Microsoft Virtual Earth. Seems to be more recent.

Google help has opened up a couple of dozen forums for end users -- if I am reading it correctly. They say that employees may drop in to contribute too.

There is a Google Earth help forum at Google Help Forums.

I think you have to sign up for a free membership unless you have already gotten one in connection with gmail.

I looked at my property via MS, but it wouldn't do a bird's eye view close up like it would on 'some' addresses.

I was able to zoom in though with Google Earth, and I noticed pic was over 2 years old, before the driveway was blacktopped.
