Oakley do you have windows 7? Apparently it doesn't work with 7 although there may be some work arounds if you google for answers. I'm getting mixed messages about it.

Can you delete the new application and then do a google search for the version that you want to download and re-download the right one? Then turn off automatic updates.

Yes, I have 7. Their website says it works with 7 and higher, which I guess is 10, which I've been avoiding downloading.

Beagles, I may have to do that and see if it works. DS uses Pro at the office and tonight he'll check his personal PC to see if the new version is there, and see if it works. Not sure which Windows he uses though.

I don't think we can even use the older version. MAD!!! Or, I suppose I'll download 10.

I just checked my google earth. It was also upgraded to pro recently. I do have windows 7. I was able to open google earth pro and maneuver around with no problems.

Czar, I wonder why mine won't work? I uninstalled then installed it, and I still get the same error message once the page opens, which is, "GE may not have started up or shut down correctly when last run."

No clue what to do, and it's almost impossible to find a phone number to call them!

Try resetting your computer back to a date before the download. That will remove the new GE, and restore the old.

Have you downloaded Google Chrome? The Google Earth website says it is required to run the new GE. On the GE website they have Earth for Chrome and they have Older Versions. Perhaps yours "upgraded" to a version that only works with Chrome.

Or, have you kept up to date with the Windows 7 updates? Rather than resetting the computer back in time, you might check for updates and run those first. I've always had GE Pro and it is working for me. I have version 7.1.5.1557 built on 5/20/2015.

Another place to download Google Earth is https://ninite.com/. I believe it gives you the non-pro version in a neat package. Run their package and the software is installed without you having to deal with any junk attached. I use Ninite for lots of hassle-free free software.

I don't want to reset the computer because then I'll lose some recent downloads. It doesn't let me pick a specific date to reset.

Yes, I have Chrome, and that's where I reinstalled it. And I get regular updates for Windows 7.

I forgot to uninstall GE when I went to ninite. I clicked to download GE, and all I did was end up downloading KeePass2. And I have no idea what that is. lol.

Do I want to uninstall GE, then go through the process again at ninite to install it?

Would someone please come and get me out of the twilight zone?? I right clicked the GE icon & was surprised to see a long list of tasks. I clicked restore to previous version and it came up. But land was missing. At the bottom of the map, I clicked on something, and I'm sorry, I can't remember what it was, but a big, beautiful, blue earth appeared, full screen. Just like the updated version on my iPad.

This is where I messed up. I minimized the page to see if the other GE was still up, and all of it disappeared. It didn't minimize, it went poof! I clicked on the GE icon again and got the error message. So I went to restore the previous version again and it says there's nothing to restore.

I'm at a total loss.

Unless I need to use Chrome for something, I'm leaving it alone! There's no GE icon on my menu page either. Strange.
