Well, it depends. first of all, I'm going to guess we're talking about 240v (not that it matters all that much, but hey). The 2nd thing would be how old is that existing circuit? And can you look at it, ie remove the outlet cover? Is it 3-prong or 4? You should confirm this on the Electical forum, but IIRC the old standard was to tie the ground to the neutral on these circuits back at the breaker box. Hence the 3rd prong is both ground and neutral. [the new standards keep these separate, hence new 240v outlets have 4 prongs.] So if you look in the outlet, you should see 3 wires coming in, two insulated and one bare. The bare one should be attached to the 3rd prong. If so, then you're ok to go. The other two (probably black and white) are the 'hot' lines and the 3rd for all intents is ground. NOTE: if you see a 4th wire in there that is a separate ground, STOP for now.

Well, I won't know for sure until the parts arrive, but I think the mystery has been solved. I called F&P because I had tried everything else and thought perhaps there was something wrong with the inlet valves. As it turns out, my washing machine is so old that it is one of the first ones they imported here...meaning that it has metric valve sizes instead of standard US laundry hookups!!! I ordered adapters which should hopefully arrive tomorrow, but I think that may be the problem. I'll post again to let everyone know the resolution! Thanks all!

What IowaGirl and ChemoCurl wrote will work. It's the only way to cancel your print job. Unplugging the printer won't do work because the computer will continue spooling the print command. So, cancel the print as explained above. The problem is it takes so long for it to cancel, so you will have to restart the computer for the cancel command to take effect. The dreaded problem I have with WindowsXP is doing it the one time doesn't work. If the first time doesn't work, restart the computer and do it a second time. Then restart again. Otherwise, you just have to sit and wait for the print job to cancel.

Have not read entire thread so forgive me if I am suggesting/asking stuff already covered. Not sure what area you are in but do you have good cell coverage? Could you do without a landline? Can you get internet thru satellite or cable? When I had small kids I would not give up landline in case of 911 emergencies. When they got to where I thought they could accurately report address I dropped landline and we all have cells as well as an emergency cell that is pay as you go. It is charged and sits in kitchen. Also a couple years ago our area allowed us to voluntarily register our cell numbers with our address. I have since made 911 calls and they asked are you calling from home and able to then connect us to our address. I know that I really like the savings! Best of luck in your new home. Again, if you have small kids the cheapest landline might be a good idea. Maybe this really isn't about what you are asking but just my thoughts.
