Induction cookware - Costco, online, etc.
Comments (8)Just a warning: not all stainless works on induction. Test whatever you are considering with a small magnet if you don't know for sure. We have a stainless Cuisinart dutch oven that does not work on our induction cooktop. I have & like: Henckels Classic Clad Stainless for saucepans & saute pan. I prefer the long handle shape & they're much less expensive than All-Clad. All-Clad Stainless 12" & 6" skillets, 4 qt. & 8 qt. soup pots (dutch oven). Farberware Millenium stainless non-stick 8" & 12" skillets. LeCreuset enamelled cast iron french (dutch) ovens, 5 qt. & 9 qt. Lodge Logic cast iron skillets Stainless stockpots (restaurant supply store) For a basic set of cookware, I recommend: 8" & 12" skillet, 1 qt., 2 qt., & 3 qt. saucepans, 5 qt. dutch oven, as many as possible with lids. This can be from multiple sources; don't get a set unless it contains just what you want....See MoreCostco's Kirkland SS cookware
Comments (7)I would like to give a different review of this cookware. I love them! I don't see what is wrong with buying the set. I use them all. Maybe I don't use each piece every time I cook but I have used them many times since I purchased them in December 2005. Not all the pieces are heavy. Only two of the pots really are (the sauté pan with lid, and the large sauce pot but both of them have a second handle on the opposite side of the regular handle) the rest of them are not so heavy considering the material and quality. These are very solid pieces. I don't know what is sold in the Costco stores anymore since the ones shown on their website didn't appear to have any Copper in them but the ones that I bought have Copper in them as well as Stainless steel. The Copper is a small (1 cm thick) band at the bottom of each pan/pot. I am very pleased with this set. They are very functional, easy to clean, affordable, and they do a great job. I've put them in the dishwasher a few times and although the Copper band at the bottom looks a bit spotted and discolored (can be easily polished with mild metal polish if you want that) the pieces are dishwasher safe. I have two All Clad pots and I have to say that although the weight and handle sizing of these two brands are different I think that the Costco version is quite good. It lived up to my expectations and then some. In fact I liked it so much I bought and brought it back with me to Sweden which is where I live. For the price that I paid and the same quality you cannot find that here! I should add in case anyone wants to know the pieces are made in Thailand. It is imprinted on the bottom of each piece. Thailand is not China. There is still quality in Thailand. I doubt that Costco would be selling these pieces if the quality was lacking....See MoreStainless cookware questions, again
Comments (17)I have the Sitram Profiserie set from Costco.com but haven't had a chance to use it yet since my kitchen won't be finished for another 6 weeks. The price of $150 seemed a bargain for induction capable and oven safe professional quality cookware. One thing to note is that it has a brushed finish inside and out. I have complemented the set w/ induction capable commercial non-stick pans and large stock pots made by Johnson Rose and a commercial non-stick try-ply griddle pan made by Vollrath, as well as a carbin steel wok and some Lodge Logic cast iron pieces. I acquired the commercial pieces from restaurant supply huses on the web for far less than All Clad or other top line consumer pieces. The Lodge I got new on ebay for a song. If you're willing to spend some time researching on the internet, there are some great bargains to be had....See MoreHelp: Sam's Club 's 'Member's Mark' Tri Ply stainless cookware?
Comments (12)I just purchased the Members Mark tri-ply stainless cookware from Sam's Club last week...love it, love it, love it. After cooking for many years with RevereWare and other assorted mediocre cookware pieces, I determined that the cookware I owned was not cutting it...I guess I never wanted to believe that my faithful RevereWare was really crummy cookware. After using friends' All Clad and Calphalon TriPly, I realized that the triply ply construction/aluminum core really makes a difference in the process and the results (versus disk bottom cookware, where the triple ply is only on the bottom of the pan). I had one piece of tri-ply cookware (a 2 qt. saucepan by Martha Stewart Everyday that I got on clearance for $13.00) and have loved it, but I can't find it any longer...so I was on the hunt for a reasonable alternative. I couldn't afford to purchase the necessary pieces I needed in All Clad and had read favorable reviews on the Member's Mark. It is a very comprehensive cookware set, and includes all usable pieces. I would say the performance is as good as All Clad, at almost one-quarter of the cost. I've always been skeptical of buying "cookware sets", but the value for the money of this set made sense. I also purchased 3 open stock pieces of Calphalon anodized non-stick on sale (a "chili pot", "everyday pan" and square griddle) for the times only non-stick will do. Run, don't walk to Sam's, and get that set. You will not regret it one bit....See Moreawm03
