WANTED: A Huge Apology

I have run into some unexpected situations since Thanksgiving and my cookies will not be received by tomorrow. In fact, they will be mailed either tomorrow or Saturday.

My mother (400 miles away) became critical in a matter of minutes right after Thanksgiving and I had been with her for a couple of weeks and then back and forth a couple of times. Thankfully, she is stable but still in the hospital. AND on one of my trips from her house to the hospital, I hit a deer going 75 mph and totalled my car. Thanfully, Aleksi wasn't with me and I wasn't seriuosly inured, just banged up and had to put arm in a sling. My cousin who also lives in SA, whom I am close with, her husband isn't expected to live more than a day or two and this is totally unexpected and she is here by herself and I need to be with her. On a wonderful note, my daughter is leaving Colorado and moving here to SA and I am trying to get flights, rental trucks, etc. My house looks like a Christmas store after a fire sale with carp every where and nothing near to being complete.

I am so sorry that my plate is so full, but sadly not with any cookies I have made for the exchange. I have received two wonderful packages from Debbie and Linda and they are awesome and made my family believe there actually may be a Santa Claus!

Oh Lord Brenda!! You have so much on your plate!!! I am glad to hear your mom is doing OK, and that you did not get hurt worse in the accident. (and that Aleksi was not with you - whew!)

So sorry about your cousins husband.

I, for one, if you happen to have my name, would be thrilled for you to just accept the gifts that come your way and to not worry about sending cookies to me. These things are not anuything that you could have foreseen. You take care of yourself and enjoy your daughter. will she be there before Christmas???

I agree with Stacy, if you have my name I would gladly forfeit that dozen cookies just to give you a few more moments of time to do Christmas for Aleksi.

Horsetail, I didn't trade with you, but I have made the same mistake-saving what I thought was the seed but wasn't. There is so much to learn- but I think that is part of why people love it-they are always learning/ experiencing something new. I would like to trade with you. Aqua, go to a hospital emergency ward - some hospitals have to treat anyone who comes to the ER. Or try a teaching/university hospital. Could you ask your boyfriend to help you find a hospital ER or teaching/university hospital that could help you? A neighbor's relative on disability with diabetes did this for complications from his disease, and got help. Another friend of mine on disability (lives a couple of states away from me) had to drive 5 hours to the nearest hospital that would treat her. Both my neighbor and friend did not have insurance or jobs due to their health problems, but the first got help through a hospital ER and the second one got help at a teaching/university hospital. Please look into these possibilities and let us know how it turns out for you. Hope this helps and that you will keep in touch with us. Karen

Brenda same here kiddo, you've been through a lot and have been very good at keeping Alexa and I posted. Don't fuss about the cookie exchange, you don't need the added stress.

Oh man Brenda - I too have to echo all the above. Take care of yourself and your family. They really need you now! I am so sorry you are going through all of this stress. PUt the cookie enchange aside and just handle one day at a time!

Brenda, I'm so sorry and just wanted to join in - please don't worry about cookies for me if I'm on your list, please. No apology needed, I'm just glad you were not hurt more seriously in the accident with the deer, goodness. Take care.

You people amaze me. Thank you so much for the kind words, prayers, support, hugs and just being there! You all made me smile from the inside out when I read these posts. So thank you so much.

Update: My mom has been moved to skilled nursing in the hospital (she lost the use of her left foot); I am slingless; my cousin's husband was pulled off of life support yesterday and as I mentioned to Alexa, alot of you probably know of his family or at least a bunch of the little ones, as his nephew and his wife were the ones that had the McCaughey (pronounced "McCoy") 6 or 7 babies in Iowa a few years back. This is going to be a very different Christmas, all bundled with a Thai Christmas party on Christmas Eve....kinda reminds me of "A Christmas Story", I just need the hideous lamp to pull it together...LoL.
