cannot copy pictures to cd

I am trying to copy pictures from My Pictures to a cd-rw, on my computer drive e: I am highlighting the picture, checking copy this file, and checking e: A box pops up ... e: is not accessible. I've done this a million times, how come now it's not working?

I not sure just what your saying. Anyway right click the
picture - go to - Send to -DVD/CD and a popup will come up
on your lower right. You can either click that or go to
My Cumputer - and open you CD/DVD writer and click on write
these pictures to CD located on the left side.
You can highlight up to or less of 700 mb for a CD
The CD has to have room to prepare to start and end.

I have Windows XP and when I am in My Pictures, I have the file and folder tasks down the left side of my screen. One of these tasks is copy this file (so I highlight the picture) then 'copy this file". When I select drive e: (which is my cd file - I have a separate dvd file) that's when I get the 'e: is not accessible.' In the past I have been able to transfer lots of pictures at one time. Now when I click on my e: drive, not even trying to transfer, it says not accessible. Also, I can put a music cd or game cd in that drive and it works. I just can't transfer or even click on the drive? I have an e-machine with Windows XP. Thanks for your help cboy - tried what you suggested, didn't work.

That worked, Bob. Somehow, I thought I had already tried that. However, rather than dragging the pictures, I still used copy and paste. By right clicking on one of the highlighted pictures and doing copy and paste, they are all transferred in one action. Maybe that's what you were telling me.

RW type disks, whether it be CD or DVD, should only be used for short term storage. Either type disks will let you transfer files to a different computer. If you use the RW type disks you can edit the files on the disks. If you use the R type disks you can copy the files to a computer, then edit the files, and then put them on another disk, R or RW. RW type disks are not a reliable storage media. If you are just moving a file from one computer to another you shouldn't delete the original until until the copy is safely on the other computer. If you are just wanting to back up files on your computer, use the R type disks and make a new copy periodically. If you have a small number of files to back up consider using a web service to store them or get a USB jump drive. (very handy to have). Whatever backup solution you choose remember, it won't work if you don't use it. Pooh Bear

Gerry if you have a scanner you could scan the damaged ones and send them to me to try fixing. I am no expert but I enjoy those kinds of tasks. Just send one if you like so you can see how it turns out. I use Corel PhotoPaint but any better photo editing program will do the job. There is quite a learning curve though. When I started it would take me 40 minutes to swap a head, now I can do it in few minutes and the result is much better than my early days - mostly LOL. I have linked Gimp below, this is a free photo editing program you might like to try. You should grab the manual as well as the program perhaps. If you decide to send any please scan as bitmaps (bmp) rather than jpg and create a file of 2 megabytes or more so we have something good to start on. go to my computer go to your e drive icon right click on it and choose properties what does it say? on that box that opens go to the record tab do you have checked to allow to record?

Have you tried it with another blank disc? Maybe the disc is defective or closed to further writing.
