Forgot to mention, I'll probably use them when I take my daily 3 mile walk and listen to my Mp3 (if the bluetooth fits). In terms of price, $20 is all I want to spend for now.

I'm a long-time listener to audio of various kinds on portable devices - Android phones, ipods, MP3 players, etc. Here are my views:

Stereo music has two channels that are different - left and right. You can't properly listen to music through one earpiece, you need both connected and in your ears. But don't drive that way.

You can talk on the phone and listen to podcasts or audio books with one earpiece. If it's loud where you are (like with traffic), one earpiece won't be your best choice.

Bluetooth "one ear" units are one more battery thing you need to remember to charge, and wearing one makes you look like an inner city drug dealer. Sound quality is usually fair at best. I think plugged units work best. I have a Plantronics unit with a short boom mike, excellent quality for phone calls. I wouldn't use it to listen to music.

In a car, connecting to your car's audio system with bluetooth for both phone use and audio play is the best choice. Second choice is using a connection cord with 3.5 mm male plugs on both ends that plugs into an Aux socket.

The cheapest, best quality two-ear buds I've found (and I've tried both expensive ones and cheap ones) are made by Skullcandy and can be found at Target stores. Some models have a built in microphone and can be used (with one ear in and the other dangling) for phone calls. Under $25 and with a lifetime replacement guarantee (all lightweight ear buds eventually break, usually where the wire connects to the plug or to the earbud itself). For such an inexpensive unit, the sound quality is very good, almost comparable to an up-market product I bought for $150.

Sorry if i wasn't clear, debi, the Skullcandy ear buds with a mic (one model is called ink'd 2) have a cord. I think you got it straight?

I use a good set of wired headphones for music and for calls I use a good bluetooth ear piece. I found the cheap ear pieces were garbage. Also if you have the new Samsung galaxy S5 there are complaints about the Bluetooth cutting out when listening to music so hopefully samsung will put out an update to fix it. Mine works fine but I saw complaints over at android central about this phone concerning that issue. Mary
