WANTED: My friend Linda is a sweetie!

My swap box arrived today, Dave had it waiting for me on the table when I got home from work. I knew as soon as I looked at the address it was from doucanoe, and a big smile spread across my face! It is so special to get a box from someone you actually "know"! (thanks Ann)

Linda chose a lovely off-white bowl that will be perfect with my dishes and other serving pieces. The colour and shape are so flexible, it will go with anything and get lots of use.

The cookbook she sent is from the Gunflint trail, which is an area in NE Minnesota, kind of inbetween her place and mine (tho we live about 6 hrs apart!) It has lots of stories and recipes from lodges along the trail and the folks who run them. It looks like a good read.

Her choice is a Rachel Ray 2 in 1 kitchen towel/pot holder. It looks really neat and I do need another oven mitt so this will work fine.

Finally she included a little gift pack of shower gel, lotion, lipgloss and scrubbie. You will notice the lip gloss has already gone to dance class and the rest of the stuff is out of the package as it has used within 5 min of opening!

Thank you so much Linda. This was really special treat.

That bowl is beautiful! I'm sure you'll use it for all kinds of delicious things. :) I'll be interested to see what you think of the oven mitt/towel thingie. From the picture on the package, it would be really nice for pouring big pots of pasta into a colander. Enjoy your lovely gift, Linda did very well!

That dish is great! The cookbook does look like and interesting read, and I am sure there are lots of wonderful recipes in it. Haven't seen the Rachael Ray pot holder/towel before, looks like it could have a great many uses.
Wonderful swap package, and you're right..how special to get one from someone you know. Enjoy!

Oh, that's bad, Trina! Poor Fox! We haven't had to deal with that here, thank goodness!!! Okay, and those of you saying to talk to the doctor, well, that is what I am pretty sure the email he read was about. He had gone to the doctor, and while he was there, joked around with his doctor that his wife thought he needs the blue pill. The doctor asked if we were trying to have any more kids, and when he said no, the doctor I guess told him that if he keeps losing weight I'll think he's a new man! And I was SO pissed that the doctor didn't take his joking seriously!!! Isn't a doctor supposed to dig when someone mentions something like that lightheartedly??? But, please don't think I'm not getting any - it's not that bad - it just doesn't last! But, he certainly makes up for it, so I'm not complaining too badly! ; ) As far as childbirth, I've been both ways. I didn't want to have drugs with any of them, but I have trouble going into labor on my own. So, I have had 3 births with a pitocin drip. Yuck!! Once it starts working, it makes it fast and hard. With all three of them, I had some painkiller, something they put in the IV, to take the edge off - I don't remember what it's called. With William though, I did go into labor on my own. (Though the doctor says it was because he had checked my cervix that morning.) So, no pitocin, no pain meds. And he was almost 9 lbs. - 8 lbs. 15 oz. And I have to say - that was my easiest labor! Incredibly painful, but maneagable. OMG - when I had William, I have this funny memory! I tore like crazy when I had him. The next day when I went to go pee, I used the little squirt bottle that they tell you to use to clean yourself afterwards, and I accidentally touched myself. It felt like there was a ball down there - I was swelled up so huge!! That was one of the weirdest feelings ever!!! Melissa - I don't know how you did that at home! We talked to a midwife when I was pregnant with Lily, but decided to stick with my doctor. But, on our own???? Scary! My mom said that her mom gave birth on their kitchen table - all 8 kids. And most of the time, the midwife didn't make it in time. She remembers her dad delivering her younger brothers and sisters. Wow - that is so cool Melissa!

Kathleen, I just got back from town and one of my errands was to return the brown & white plates to Marshalls. I was planning to pick up four more of the British Castles bowls, but they were already all gone! So were all the rest of the blue & white salad plates I'd bought there. I've learned my lesson . . . if I like it, I need to buy it then and there. Things move fast at Marshalls! I did find some cute hiball glasses there for only $2.99 each. They'll work well for our Summertime Tanqueray & Tonics out on the patio. They have little palm trees painted on them. Lynn

Of course Maddie knows, and she's grieving, too. She's doing her best to help you feel better, and want's your affection to help her out too. I'm still thinking of you, Sharon. I had a close call this past week. One of my favorite cats (I have 8 favorites!) disappeared while we were out of town. She was gone for nearly a week. I got some pictures printed out, took one by the vet, and headed home to start going door to door with them, and there she was, curled up on the back of the couch. Only those with pets know what he.. I was going through, and what a weight was lifted from me when she returned. I usually make mine with mayo so that is why DH liked it so much. He not a big fan of mayo. I also subed EV olive oil for the peanut oil. Clare This is where I found the recipe when I did a search. I like the shape of the serving dish. I think it would be better for a buffet table than a round one.

Of course, I love regional cookbooks.

The towel thingy is neat.

Janet that "moppine" thing is cool. I use my dish towel for an oven mitt all the time and also wipe up spills with the hot pads, so this has it all covered.

Love the dish. The handles are so pretty along with the flowers. You can use that many ways.

The cookbook is very nice. I agree that the regional cookbooks are fun.

Nice work from another of my former swappies to one of my former swappies! I cherish the glass bowl and silver spoon I got from Linda.

Beautiful swap package - the serving dish looks like it will come in handy tomorrow! Regional cookbooks are great - and we always called a moppina everything from a napkin to a dish towel....-maria

Oh yes, that's a beautiful dish and the color will go with nearly anything so I think it'll have a lot of uses.

I just love cookbooks, all cookbooks, so as far as I'm concerned you just can't go wrong with a cookbook, especially a local or regional one.

Add me to the list of people who are always using a dish towel for a pot holder, mostly because I keep catching my pot holders on fire, LOL. Can't have too many of those!

Very nice choices, Linda, and I'll bet Chance agrees too. Little girls just love that lipgloss.

I use dish towels for hot pads more than hotpads/potholders..That thing is a great idea!

Lip gloss is the BOMB and Chance knows that already!

I love that moppin/dishtowl. Great idea.

The bowl is my favorite in this package. Just the right size for many things.

The dish is lovely, Janet....nice that it will go with everything. Cookbook looks interesting, too. RR was on some TV show this morning using her moppine. I may have to look for one next time I'm in town. The lip gloss etc. was a nice touch, Linda.

What a lovely serving dish, I just love the shape and the detail. It will be gorgeous on your table or even with fruit etc.

The cookbook sounds like something I would love, I'd be heading to the tub with it!

How nice too to remember Chance, she is such a doll, I bet she was more excited than you!

Oh I am so glad the bowl arrived intact! I was so nervous about it breaking en route!

I am very happy you like it all, Janet, and I was pretty sure Chance woud like her "little something", too!

I'll pass on the lip gloss..LOL! Love the serving dish/bowl and I'm another fan of regional cookbooks. Add me to the list who can always use another towel or two in the kitchen. Great swap box Linda!! I know Chance will enjoy it all!

I've also never heard of the Flintridge Gun Trail, I mean Gunflint Trail (I had to scroll back up to get the real name, but somehow I remembered it as Flintridge!). What's that about? Sounds interesting!

The bowl is gorgeous, and the towl looks extremely practical. Great job!
