Revo Uninstaller?

I have WinME on my laptop and wondering if Revo is compatible with with ME. I want to remove AVG and install Avast.

Use this tool to uninstall Avg, use the 32bit.exe

Note: The operating systems Windows 95/98/Me/NT4 will be supported until the end of 2009 for Avast.

I was advised to use Revo years ago to remove programs as it is supposed to do a more thorough job that Windows does. I was told that Windows leaves behind pieces and parts, usually in the registry. So, I've always used it to remove programs, especially those pesky ones that sneak in when I fail to pay attention when downloading another. It seemed to work well for me with XP for many years. The hunter icon has gone, I had shut down and rebooted later, so no problems there. Thanks for the help, you folks are the best.

REVO was used to uninstall Ashampooo successfully. Zone Alarm Free is now the new installed firewall. Since Avast is now successfully updating, I would support the idea that Ashampoo and Avast currently make for an unhappy combo. I'm posting in case this "solution" to "Avast cannot find the server" is helpful to another.

Guess there isn't much use of going with AVAST then huh?

I would love to upgrade the system...I absolutely HATE ME..

I only have 256MB of RAM

Back to your original question just in case a future need arises, REVO does not support ME. The supported O/S begins with Win2000.

Jean I agree with ME was awful. I was so glad to get rid of that PC.

Windows Me was criticized by users for its instability and unreliability, due to frequent freezes and crashes. A PC World article dubbed Windows Me the "Mistake Edition" and placed it 4th in their "Worst Tech Products of All Time" feature. "Shortly after Me appeared in late 2000", the article states, "users reported problems installing it, getting it to run, getting it to work with other hardware or software, and getting it to stop running."

The System Restore feature sometimes ended up restoring malware which the user had previously removed, since its method of keeping track of changes is fairly simplistic. By disabling System Restore, the malware could be removed, but the user lost all saved restore points.

My recollection is ME was the bridge between the prior Windows architecture and the NT architecture of Win2000 which is to this day the foundation of XP, Vista and W7. It most certainly was not a quality product, but it might have served a useful purpose in the evolution of the Windows O/S. Of course, that didn't help the users then.
