Try this first click start>Programs now look for (Epson) put your mouse over it see if a window opens with an un-install feature, if you have already done this, look in add/remove programs for epson---Hint there is always a possibility you may have to reinstall the software to be able to remove it using the add/remove option in the control panel.

Please do not take offense, but I notice that you indicated that you have SP1, but there is no mention of SP2. You really should have SP2 installed---too much risk being online without it. I believe MS still has the CDs containing SP2 available.

Should be able to get from windows up-date I noticed that and forgot to mention it

Plus the 78 security updates and patches issued since SP2 was launched. Just recently wiped my computer and had the experience

I have tried to uninstall from add/remove as well as using the uninstaller listed with the printer software. I will try reinstalling and see what happens.

I have the SP2 CD that I got from MS...but have heard so many stories of people having problems after installing SP2...will have to look into installing it...thanks..

You can Google "Install SP2'' and get an idea of some associated problems, May be before reinstalling \ try un-installing in Safe mode, Reboot the computer, during start up keep tapping the "f8" key you should get a window use the up-down arrows to select "Safe Mode" and hit enter, now try to un-install...To exit Safe Mode simply reboot.

I tried to uninstall in safe mode. I receive this error message:
"No Printer or utility can be deleted"

After scandisk/defrag, I tried to use the Epson uninstaller and recieved this message:
Runtime error: Program:C:\WINDOWS\System32:ESPTP32U.EXE.

I hope to be able to reinstall the software and try to uninstall again...thanks

Yes try that in the mean time I will look up that "Run time Error that may be a problem, but it could go away after re-installing, all programs come with an un-install feature if you removed that feature someway you may not be able to un-install, that is why we want to re-install to try and get the un-install feature or file back-----Pain I know..

You are getting some odd errors here, are you getting any other errors, or pop ups or anything else odd--DO NOT INSTALL SP2 YET.

I checked the properties of the Epson uninstaller shortcut.

Target is:
%SystemRoot%\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\EPUPDATE.EXE /R

Start in:
%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

I clicked on "find target" and found the EPUPDATE.EXE in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\W32X86\3

I don't intend to install SP2 anytime soon....

Well you should in-stall it, but you need to make sure that there are currently no other problems with the pc first--Scan for virus ect.

I scanned for spyware and virus this morning..nothing found except one IE tracking cookie..(I use Firefox except for pages that don't like Firefox)...Just reinstalled and got another memory error while trying to install. Still can't uninstall the printer software....BUMMER!!!!

Sorry at a loss here can't explain memory errors, if it was actual memory problems you would have other errors in other applications as well...

Have you looked in the Event Viewer at Error logs ?

Might look in Services and if the spooler is Started, Stop it, or temporarly Disable, and maybe also the items that depend on an active spooler, like TCP/ip PrintServer and maybe other services too.

Maybe. If you cross your fingers & hold your head just right - after a reboot, hopefull you would be able to uninstall.
