As I understand Think Point you have no need to visit any other site. Simply install, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes. use the blue link which is the free version.

Well, darn...I took it to the shop...

So many things have gone wrong today that I took it in...

But...I couldn't get past the first Think Point screen to scan with Malwarebytes. I guess I could have started in safe mode...right?

no you can not do it yourself because it locks you out of installing or using most products like malwarebytes, you would need the help of a team like LzD.

LZD is a forum just like this you,but you must register and get an email approval then you can post there, you should post infection type issues in the area for malware removal and analysis. What was it that you had a problem with over there? I am on that forum also so if you need help let me know. The team there is from all over the world so it may take some patience for someone to help but they will and the team there is about as good as you can get.

I couldn't figure out where to post my problem......I just took it to the shop and I'm having them do it for me....thank you anyway. I did register and was in the site, but it lost me from there....it's not as simple as "this" site :o)

Well Owbist was right on one point...Malwarebytes "will" get rid of it at the beginning of the problems...before you do something stupid like click on it. I got the trojan message on my desktop computer also....last night. I ran Malwarebytes while it was there, but I didn't touch it....it found it and removed it. With the other computer I have Windows Security Essentials and it looked legit and I clicked on it...even after reading on this forum about that infection :o( After you click on it, you're toast.

Now, my question...where could this becoming from on both of my computers? My tech said people have reported getting it from MSN. I hadn't gone to the MSN site, but I "do" have instant messaging on both computers, but I've had it for years on "this" computer. Another thing both computers have in common is Facebook and Farmville....could it come from there?

Thank you ravencajun, I probably should have hung in with it for a while longer, but I just closed it down and took it to the shop...

Now, I had (in my mind) a good reason for clicking on it. I "do" have Microsoft Security Essentials on that computer...I don't, however, have it on "this" computer and by that time I was a whole lot smarter :o)

Do I need Malwarebytes on that computer as well...even with Security Essentials?

Owbist...I just read the instructions on the link you inserted....heck, I coulda done that :o) But....it's all right..they will do it in the shop and I didn't install it on this computer....

yes I put malwarebytes on all pc's in addition to what ever other AV programs they have, the free malwarebytes only runs when you do a scan so it will not interfere.

Never ever click on anything not even the x to close the page instead do a control alt delete and end process on your browser or just shut down the pc.

It definitely could have come from facebook and those games more and more infections are coming from there because their code is horrible and allows hackers easy entry to install these kind of drive by infections. I personally do not do facebook at all and will not do any of those social networking sites or data mining sites since that is what they really are.

this is the thing with the bleepingcomputer tutorials(awesome site I am a member there too) yes they seem straight forward however most of these infection removals are not straight forward and some of the tools you end up having to use to fully remove it are tools that should only be used with the guidance of a security malware removal forum specialist. I have seen people go and try to run a tool like combo fix, and not have someone guiding them, and end up having to do a reformat. This is why we so adamantly try to persuade those with these bad infections to instead go to one of the good helpful security malware removal forums and get hands on assistance and in these cases a little hand holding goes a long way in reassurance, these are sometimes scary to go through.
Unfortunately the bad guys do not always follow the rules and in addition to the original infection they throw in some new added infection or rootkit so each one can and often is different which would require a specific set of directions for each pc user. That is why all the help forums warn of never just trying to follow the directions given to someone else with a similar sounding problem.

Okay...on my desktop I "did" click the x to remove it (I'm learning :o) and, of course, that didn't work. I then did a malwarebytes scan and it showed up there...it removed it and then I did another malwarebytes scan and it came up clean...everything "seems" to be working on this computer...do I need to do anything else with this one? I know now...never click on "anything".

this is up to you but personally I would go to LzD and just ask them to check it over with some scans to make sure you got it all, tell them exactly what you had and what you did and ask to check to see if you are now clean. If you need help over there just let me know.
