I've read several posts similar to this one and I don't understand what all the fuss is about. If I wanted to reply to a Craigslist email, I could do it in about 6 seconds with a few mouse clicks and not have to make any changes to the browser at all, nor would I need to install any type of a plug-in that might not be supported the next time the browser gets updated. Right-click the Craigslist email address Select Copy E-Mail Address with a left-click Open a new Tab-go to your AOL EMail Click Compose Right-click in the To: field and left--click to PASTE the email address you just copied a moment ago. What could be easier? Sometimes the problems encountered by users wanting to make everything work with one click are better solved by using what is already available to you. It's not that hard, and you just might learn something useful along the way.

Sorry I disagree with Z as to notifying others on the header that you know. This virus replicates expotentialy through the addressbooks and will continue to do so until it times out or is removed. If a user is not aware of the possibility of his/her system infection then how will they be aware of its existence. Just this morning I have been approached by two co-workers who became infected over the weekend. DA

Some others: gmx.com (not the greatest reputation, though) zoho.com (yes, they do have "@zoho.com" accounts, not just free domain hosting) yandex.com (Russia's answer to Yahoo & Gmail, very popular) I would suggest myopera.com, but Opera announced just a few days ago on their blog that they would be discontinuing their email service by March 1, 2014 ! :-( Personal Observation: It's interesting to me that many people know only about Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail/Outlook and AOL. It's also odd (to me) that people (esp. but not only heavy email users) will, on the one hand, have innumerable devices/toys for accessing their email accounts and performing all their other internet/communication needs ($$$), while, simultaneously trusting in FREE providers for their email !! I wonder much is spent by these people each year on all their devices/services ? Yet they seem genuinely surprised to discover that many people spend a few bucks on what is essentially the key to their online identities: their email address/account. For anywhere from $12/yr. (PolarisMail basic account) to $16/yr (EuMX.net account) to $20/yr. (FastMail Full account or Runbox Micro Account) one can have reliable email with top-notch, personal customer service, in case one needs tech support or even account recovery. For less than the cost of eating out once or getting a home-delivered pizza -- and a lot less than all the computer toys (and service plans) some folks have -- you can have a year's worth of peace of mind and prompt tech support if/when necessary. As one of the EMD members recently and somewhat sarcastically remarked to someone changing (free) email providers, "Good luck on your new life as somebody's product and nobody's customer. Either you pay, or you're paid for." *Ouch* :-) If you're content with using free email, that's perfectly fine. To each his/her own. Different people have different priorities in these matters. In my case, I abandoned free accounts some months ago and have never regretted it. (Btw, check out the emaildiscussions forum site to see how well-respected the above providers are and for a lot of threads about various providers !) Here is a link that might be useful: EMD Forums

Let's see, before I get to my minor rant of the week... As to Penney's Blinds--what a shame you had such a terrible experience. I purchased custom-made blinds from them about 5-6 years ago, and was (and still am) delighted with them. Got exactly what I wanted, the size was right, and they've held up well. Hope you eventually get things sorted out and are happy with your purchase. The tax situation? Our state works differently--we have urban enterprise zones (my new house is in one) where the sales tax is half that of other areas. The system is set up to encourage people to come from other areas to shop there, to boost their economy--I've never had a problem with them charging me the regular sales tax, and even before we bought a home here, we frequently came down to shop and save a few $$$. Okay, my 'rant of the week'. I ordered a few packs of buttons last week from an online place (although I called to place my order). Small little sale--under $10 before the shipping costs. Well, the gal on the phone repeated EVERYTHING I told her except my zip code. I didn't think anything of it, she got the rest correct. Well, when I got home Sunday, checked my e-mails and found my order confirmation, guess what? Yep, she's transposed a few #'s on my zip. I e-mailed (Sunday night) and called (Monday morning--got an answering machine), but apparently they don't bother checking those things, they just barge right ahead with filling their orders, so by the time I got hold of anyone who could actually respond, they'd sent the package with the wrong zip. They're apparently unconcerned about it--they think the post office will notice the error when they scan the package.... Well, hope so, but I'm guessing it's going to slow down the delivery, and I was really hoping they'd arrive today--they're something I need desparately for a project I'm working on at the new house and I'll be leaving for there tomorrow morning.
