I have Favorites open to the left of the screen all the time. Some (many) have what I guess you'd call avatars by the name, such as the "M" for MSN or a butterfly; "TWC" for the weather channel, etc.

My question is: sometimes, the picture changes! It makes me feel like someone has some sort of control on my computer. I don't think I'm paranoid but, what's happening? Thanks.

Those are called favicons and are downloaded automatically by your browser when you visit a website. They pose no harm. If you want to read more about them, see the link below. HTH.

Thank you Terry, but how is it being changed? I visit Lucianne.com often and the 'favicon' is a capital L in a box. Right now (I'm not kidding) it looks like a Islamic or Muslim symbol. Two crossed swords with two dots???????
Drudge is the IE icon???? Some look normal but some are changed or have IE in place of the normal icon. How is this happening?

I read as much as I could understand of your link and didn't see any reference of hijacking a website's favicon. (Thanks for letting me add a new term to my computer vocabulary.)

Billie, you are just going to have to buy a Percheron and pose as an Amazon . . . I see on the Percheron Horse Association link that, "All logos, trademarks, and pictures are property of their respective owner and/or company, and may not be used . . ." Really, you have no choice. Azura, your cat loves you! That image of a pretty girl doesn't look too scary unless it was she who stepped on the alien frog beside the path . . . Is that cavalier little guy a King Charles, Jali? Looks like he can take on more responsibility. I'm wondering about Skybird . . . I wouldn't want to have to use this image again for her. (And she'd better not try that picture of Azura's cat with a gun to its head. ;o)

what toolbar? it never added a toolbar to my firefox. It only added a small circle next to the url address bar for an indicator for the current site I am visiting. I have had mine from the beginning so if they now add a toolbar I am not aware. ahh ok apparently there is now a toolbar with it for IE(I do not use IE), try these directions The IE add-on leaves the position of the toolbar up to the browser. If the position changes, it's either another toolbar or the browser itself moving it. You should be able to lock your toolbars by selecting "Lock the toolbars" from the View -> Toolbars menu. Also, removing the WOT toolbar disables the entire add-on, which is why it shows up when your restart your browser. (You can stop this by disabling the WOT Helper add-on from Tools -> Manage Add-ons -> Enable or Disable Add-ons.) It seems you can move it to different locations on your various bars at the top of Ie to make it more convenient, this page is a great guide on how to customize all of your IE8 top bars. The movie, "Avatar", is a must in 3D. Its raises the bar for animated movies! It is science fiction and should not give any 10 yr old a problem unless he/she are prone to nightmares, or has trouble separating fiction from reality. The military and corporate greed are cast in bad light, at least the ones in this story. Those turn out to be the baddies. There are scenes of shoot-em-ups and wanton destruction solely for the sake of the mining company. This would warrant the need for parental guidance. A love interest, first beginning as a mutual attraction plus the desire of a young paralized vetern's desire for a life with controllable limbs, does develop, but the portraial is suitable for the younger crowd.

I loved it. Might be best picture at the Academy Awards. Good story (taken from Westward Expansion and Native American part of our history???), lots of really impressive visuals. The costuming of the Navi was really creative and must have been a wonderful job for the costumers--they could just let their imaginations run free. Apparently there are 3 versions: regular movie, 3D and 3D on the Imax screen. I saw the 3D version. Bigger and louder isn't for me, so I didn't do the Imax.

Do you use IE7? The only reason I ask is that I did a lot of Google searching for IE favicons and it appears there's a bug in IE7 that causes this problem. The only fix I found was to clear the Temporary Internet Files to flush out the corrupt .dat files.
I can't find anywhere if adware/spyware etc. can cause this problem.
Maybe someone with more knowledge will come along and give you a bit more insight on the problem.
