30-inch gas range

Looking to replace a 30" electric stove with a gas stove - thanks to everyone who has posted their experiences & opinions, I have learned a lot!

Here's what I want:

- pilot lights

- open burners, all the same size/output

- no electronics

- manual clean oven

The way we cook, simmering is more important than high heat. Haven't decided whether we want a gas or electric oven. Have never had a full-size convection oven - don't know if it is important to us. We wouldn't use a broiler or rotisserie.

We have looked at a Danby, & it was okay, but the grates looked wimpy. The Danby was the first thing we looked at, & I was not ready to settle.

The same store also carries used gas ranges, but they don't get them very often because old gas ranges last forever, the staff tell me.

It's the only store I know of in town that carries used gas stoves.

Besides a Wolf (which would be a compromise, due to the electronics), my other idea is importing a used gas range from Seattle, WA (we live in Vancouver, Canada) - probably a crazy idea.

Just wondering if anybody else would rather have pilot lights than electronic ignition & what did you do?
