hungapp error - LONG.

Hello, I need help again!

I have been dealing with hungapp errors for some time now. I did research on this and want your help to solve it.

Not sure if recent errors of programs not resonding at shutdown or running software are related - I think they are. Please feel free to ask questions and I will help as much as I can...Thanks.

Programs not responding:

It varies> Wmplayer, SMax 4PNP, rundell, explore exe, mxyplx. exe with windows option to end tasks.

I was veiwing pictures and videos.

I got hungapp errors just opening my browser (IE). That has stopped?

The hungapp errors wasn't frequent at first - months between errors. They are getting worse as time goes by.

I went into windows error reporting and have a list of applications that hang/hung.

Picasa - hang - recent download

rundll32 exe - hang

EXPLORE.EXE - hang

explore.exe - faulting

winword.exe - hang

WKsWp.exe - hang

OIS.EXE - faulting

msimn.exe - hang

I uninstalled spybot 2 days ago because it was behaving odd.

Hungapps are not not just Internet Explorer.

I came across this download in my search by MS for UPHclean. Since I don't know what I'm dealing with I didn't try it.

Go to the Control Panel and find Administrative Tools then Event Viewer.
See if the Event Viewer gives you any kind of clues, they'll be in red and say Error.

You don't have McAfee Anti-Virus Software installed by any chance.

McAfee was install by Toshiba and was corrupted. I had a tech remove it and clean the registry. I ran Regcleaner and removed leftovers.

I got the hungapp error and net.frame 2 weeks after getting the laptop it's almost 2 years old. I showed the errors to my tech and thought he fixed the problems with both MS errors.

Windows updates shows Defender updates as succeeded and seems to be running okay.

I have to get my pictures off Picasa then and uninstall it? It misbehaved (again) today - event viewer didn't pick up the problem?

Yesterday/today (so far) things are running fine. No hangs, not responding and no warnigs/errors in event

A few years ago, while using online banking, I put the decimal point in the wrong place, didn't catch it, and overpaid our $17.87 long distance bill by $1769.13! I realized it, quickly, but the damage was done. My bank said once the money had been sent, it was "out of their hands", and the phone company said it would have to "go through channels" to be refunded! One wrong click took over six months to be corrected. I've really tried to check my decimal point placing, since then. Just another example of my having to learn things the hard way. George, I'll bet it won't take that long for them to correct their error!

I tried Ctrl + Alt + Delete before I posted > no go. I had to force a shut down on my laptop. I went back in and click the safe mode option. Got to what I wanted to preform and things don't seem right. Should I be doing a disk error checking on xp before a defrag? Cause I did. It's setting at phase 4 with boxes appearing in the scan line that are grayed out. Win 98 was so easy I feel like a newbie with XP. Very frustrated at this point.

The bud in the leaf axil first image upthread) is your future tree, so it shouldn't be kept under water where it's likely to rot. Why would you remove Spybot because it was acting odd? You should consider that a warning and investigate. Were the definitions up to date and did you try running it?

This is a update on my issues with hungapp, usernv and programs not responding.

And for others dealing with these errors.

Downloaded UPHclean.
Now I'm free of usernv error.

I have an issue lately with IE hangs and if I uninstall Adobe Flash it fixes it. Yet I can only go about two days before I seem to need Flash.

iexplore error, faulting module flash9b.ocx, version 9.0.28.0, fault address 0x00099589.

I blamed the flash problem on Yahoo ads (my home page) it came and went. If it starts up again I will try what you did.

Now I have a new issue> my power button. Some days I really hate computers....LOL. Gotta go do a search before I call Toshiba.

My toshiba, in control panel, Power Saver. There are some settings for how the Power Button functions.

Something is broke under the power button.

I have a extended warranty is that covered? I hate sending in. Is this a costly fix?

What would you do?

I'd either go buy a new $400 laptop before sending it back, or some magazines, including a tv guide.
