Problem with Flash videos

I have a Compaq Pressario with Windows 7 64-bit. I got it last year and there's plenty of RAM and hard drive space. I've had problems with flash player ever since I installed and removed Real player last month. Tonight, the videos at YouTube, ESPN, and TMZ pauses and buffers every 2-5 seconds. I tried using Firefox, Opera, and Google Chrome (all 32-bit) with the same results. I tried turning hardware acceleration off on the Flash control panel, same results. Tried rebooting, same results. I play a YouTube video once, it continually pauses. Play it a second time, it does fine. Sounds like a buffering issue, but I don't know what to do about it. It should have to buffer every 2-5 seconds, especially on a relatively new computer.

Any suggestions? Any help will be appreciated.

Any chance you changed your internet provider or the type of service they provide?

Try a speed test and see what your download speeds are from a couple of different locations.

Hi,
I'm David's Mom.
He asked me to post for him as his computer & phone are down. Last nite his flash drive started working fine. He thought it was because he turned the flash to a lower quality but today he turned it back up & it was still working. A short time later everything went.. even his TV is fuzzy. He has talked to Charter & they say there is a problem in his area. They are going to give him a new modem (his is very old) & a new box for the TV Wednesday. I sure hope by tomorrow the problem charter is having will be fixed.
We will keep in touch as to what is happening after Wednesday.
BTW I tested my computer speed on this page & it is very slow. Download 3.22.. Upload 1.05..My computer is about 6 years old. His speed was above what it should be.

DA, watch that thinking while eating lunch...it's bad for the digestion! However it is much appreciated. Below are the answers to your questions. 1. Have you tried FF bare boned with not add-ons to see if this occurs? Ans. Yes 2. Have you tried a prior version of FF? Ans, Yes, just a few minutes ago. I un-installed ver 11.0 and installed the older 10.0.2 in it's place. I also un-installed Flash Player and re-installed that again. ...still the same results after shutting down and re-starting! 3. Since the drivers are up to date and the card and pc are new .. I don't believe that it's the card. I have run computers that ran totally with the 'onboard' graphics chip and if you weren't into extreme gaming .. the display was fine! Any card is MUCH more preferable than the onboard and even though the card you have is low end .. the display Should look much better than you describe. Disconnect the cable from "both ends" of your pc and monitor. Carefully check the 'pins' on each connector. Once you have made sure that the pins are all there and solid .. (not bent or loose) .. try this: You should have a port connection for the 'onboard' graphics? Connect the cable back up to your monitor and then connect the other end of the cable to your 'onboard' graphics port and see if you get better results. If you get a better display, we can go from there. BTW: MAKE SURE that you do ALL of the above "With The PC Powered OFF"!

Thank you all for your help. I'm beginning to think the problem is with Secunia. I remember getting a notice to update Flash about a week ago and did, (I'm not one hundred percent it was Adobe Flash). I know I updated Adobe Shockwave (no idea what I use that for). I tried everything last night and gave up. I currently have Flash 11.7 but have the 11.8 plugin. I will try a system restore, thank you Snidely, if necessary. I'm waiting to see if I get an update notice from Adobe. If not tonight, I'll do a restore. I like using Secunia because it checks my machines for updates. You are correct that these programs are probably unnecessary, but I find they inform me before the company does and keep reminding me. I've had a problem with Secunia in the past not recognizing an already updated program. I think this might be the case. Thanks, Donna I appreciate the uninstall tool. Didn't find that on my own. This is just one reason I seldom use Firefox. Seems they've had lots of problems lately with add-ons, apps, and other necessities. I mostly have used Chrome and just do not have these sorts of problems.

On Sunday, my Charter Internet, Phone, and TV all went out at once. Today, everything is fixed and working fine, including Flash videos. It was a problem with Charter. Thanks for your assistance.

Dar, your download speed is not that slow really. It shows you are downloading at over 3 megabytes per second, not too shabby. Upload speeds are always slower than downloads but mostly you would only be uploading emails and the like so again the speed is good enough.

How far away did you select to tests the speeds? I go from Ontario over to Alaska - ovr 3000 miles - and test or another distant point in Canada or America.

David. Thanks for reporting back. At least it was good news, the problem was with the provider and not your computer.

My speed test comes from Atlanta Ga.. 150 miles from me.
It just seems like it takes forever for a page to load.
