I basically did the same thing, but took it one step furtherÂI created a folder in my C drive, named it "shortcuts" (or whatever you choose) then created sub folders in that folder and properly name them. Then, I right clicked on the lower toolbar and selected "toolbars" then "new toolbar" and browsed for my "shortcuts" folder and selected it. The end result is a very organized system. Here is my example. You could have a folder named "games" that would show small icons, like in the start menu.

2 things you can try: If you are logged on as the Administrator and you moved the icons to areas you want...then Right - Click on a blank area of your desktop and select "View"...and uncheck "Auto Arrange" and "Align to Grid". It was just the shortcuts I was wondering about...the ones with little arrows. I don't think they leave a program behind, do they? I don't have any exe or dll's there....and I know not to delete "My Documents" and things like that. It was just the ones that I put there for convenience and no longer use that I was concerned about. I stopped the popup asking if I wanted to delete any unused icons because I was thinking that it might delete one that I wasn't ready to let go of, but hadn't used for quite a while....I "do" have some of those "I might look at that one of these days" things...

Nope it didnt get wet- never even made it into the bathroom! I dont remember which tv I wanted- and I HAVe TRIED- keyword 'tried' to do a systems restore. I have win7, starter, IE, HP Mini, and when I try to do a system restore, I can't find a way to find a date to restore to...?? How do I get to a restore date? With Win98 there was a calender to use- not so with this system.
