You might need to delete the contents of the folder before deleting the folder itself, one of those strange quirks of computers. If that fails start the confuser in Safe mode by tapping the F8 button on startup and do your thing. If you are at all concerned about editing your registry once the folder has gone you could use Ccleaner, it is a safe and very effective tool for removing all manner of odd files and fragments left on the computer over time. I run it with the default settings.

Revo uninstaller is sort of a combined way to uninstall programs and clean up the registry for that programs left overs and some of the left over files/folders it might leave. It's not always 100% effective but its better than windows uninstall - which is really just running the programmers uninstaller. You can try to use revo... I always run it on its most aggressive scan. . To me it sounds like you might need to reinstall AVG 12 the older version..... disable it.... uninstall it maybe with Revo first... then follow up with the AVG uninstall tool .. most want you to run that tool from safe mode. OK so we assume you have downloaded and saved the Avast program. Remove the internet connection temporarily. Right click on the AVG icon near the clock click Exit and follow any instructions to complete the stopping of AVG Right click on Start click Explore then use the left side only at first click plus sign beside C:\... and the menu drops underneath click the plus sign beside Program files and it drops again click the Grisoft folder to highlight it Now move to the right side of your screen and click on all the items to highlight them right click in the highlighted area click Delete Back to the left side right click on Grisoft to highlight right click on highlighted name click Delete AVG program is now removed but the registry entries are still present so you might consider running Crap Cleaner before going on. They can be left as they cannot be used once the underlying program is removed Install Avast, reconnect to the internet and look for updated definitions and register the Avast program and you should be good to go.

W7 & W8 has a built in sandbox type program called "steady state" many do not know exist on your PC it prevents change to the PC by maleware, it is configured into the guest account of every Microsoft PC, however when you set up your PC up the guest act. is disabled so to use this feature you must enable guest account, then log out of admin: act. and login using guest act. Then when something trys to install or get in, a message will pop up that unless you provide admin. rights it will not install. If you do want to install a printer or software, you must log out and come back in using admin act.
