wizard, I just wanted to say I have a 6 year old Dell, and though I can no longer extend the warranty (could only get it for 5 years), the last 2 years I had what was called Gold Support. I'm not sure if I paid extra for that over wwhat it would have normally cost for years 4 and 5, but with the Gold Support, my repair call was to be answered in 5 minutes....and it always was. Additionally, other than the initial repair call to tech support which was overseas (India I think) all the later calls were to US tech folks. LMK if you ever want me to check for a US repair # for you. My one and only call to India was a disaster and drove me nuts. Additionally, since having the Gold Warranty for years 4 and 5, I am entitled to tech support for the life of the computer.

Since you have had a problem with 2 printers now better start checking other things. 1 Check the print spooler service, make sure it's set to automatic. click on the Start button and select the RUN option from the start menu and type services.msc and click on ok. This will list out all the services. Now find print spooler and make sure its started. If not just right click on the option and start it and also set it as automatic.

Even the correct cartridges are giving the error message "unsupported" cartridge". I had to move away from cartridge type printers. As far as a solution I don't have one for you. You could Google---> using an "unsupported" cartridge dell

Good luck Sue, I wouldn't try that for any money, just don't care for a mess to clean, off counters, hands, and floor. Anticipating one always! I thought Walgreens could fill any cartridge, guess I am fortunate in that regard, just the initial outlay for regular cartridges, and now, refills at Walgreens do the job. I read in the forum years back of people trying to fill their own, and decided it wasn't for me. There are a lot of things I WON'T do, taxes, bank statements, and fill ink cartridges, that is why those people are here for us to hire to do those things!
