Surely if you have Spybot Search and Destroy you double click on the icon and then click to update?

Is this a new computer or new to you? I ask because I had not realised Spybot Search and Destroy came pre-installed on new computer.

Thank You for the reply, when I double click . I get A list of sites to update from, some in the usa some not . Spybot was installed by the builder of the computer I am familiar with Malwarebytes but not spybot .. Thanks again :)

I would select one that is in the US myself or other English speaking location.

You could always use Malwarebytes as well as Spybot if you prefer that program, neither use resources untill you click to activate the program. Both are good.

Pick a USA site, it really doesn't matter though. On a USA site the download / update might be faster, because you're choosing a server that's closer to you.

The list is of perhaps a dozen mirror sites. When you activate the update utility the appearing window normally has one link highlighted. That link is "supposedly" the best connection at the time.

I have used the Safer Networking 2 link for as far back as this old brain can remember. Go ahead and use a USA site as it would be fine. Just remember SN2 if there is some type of connection concern with your chosen link.

Thanks DA I looked at that link but wanted to be sure it was ok to use .I am paranoid :) My old computer lasted 8 years with no bugs . I miss it, hope this one will last at least half as long . Gin
