I had never heard of .art but then I have never had anything to do with AOL either, learn something new every day! From that article this seems to be the key cure. It can be turned off!! To turn it off, launch AOL. This can be done on-line or off-line. Click on My AOL, then choose Preferences, then choose WWW. There you will find three choices for graphics; No graphics, Compressed graphics, Uncompressed graphics. Choose the Uncompressed graphics. Now the whole problem of the .art files will be gone. If you download a GIF or a JPG image, it will be on your hard drive as the GIF or JPG image, and be readable and usable in the normal fashion. I am hooked on using imageshack, they have some great extensions and add ons which make saving pictures to my imageshack account so easy. I love the imageshack extension for firefox, it allows you to just right click on any picture and from the list there is now an option to save to imageshack, voila it goes right to my imageshack account. they also have a great tool you can add to windows, any picture on your pc you can right click on and there will be a menu item upload to Imageshack, voila the picture is sent from my pc directly to my imageshack account. I am a big fan of the Windows Power Toy Resizer - and the clone for Windows 7! I am using the one for Windows 7 right now.... I choose MEDIUM for the size of the picture I am posting here. One of the really nifty things with using that gadget is that you don't have to open an software. You can go right from the "browse" window that opens - right click on the image you want resized, choose the resizer and the size to make it, and it automatically does it and renames it. It pops up a couple seconds later and you can click on it to select. It is certainly the easiest and fastest option out there!!!!

Using Android tablets with some browsers I am able to use the photo icon to have it open the directory on the device to find a stored picture to then upload and post. However that is not the case with all browsers. I use Boat Browser as my primary browser on my kitkat Android tablet and when I click on the photo icon absolutely nothing happens, it does not open any type of dialog box or directory it does nothing. So on that tablet my only option is to be forced to use a different browser like Chrome. In fact even the stock Android browser will not open the photo option for me. Kind of a pain to have to change browsers any time I wish to post a picture. The only way around that is saving pictures to my Houzz ideabooks from my pc or using an alternate browser on the tablet and use the houzz photo button to post them from there. I don't know why it works with some browsers and not all. Those of you on mac or ipad is there an alternate browser you could try using? There are lots and lots of them for Android in the play store.
