you can use a program like ATF which will clean your various browsers, instructions are on the site.
OR You can do it manually on your browser.
ATF-Cleaner

manually on firefox click on Tools then clear private data and select what you want to clear.
I personally always set my browser to NOT accept 3rd party cookies they are the ones to worry about.

It is not really necessary to clear the cookies daily but if you wish to do that then there is no harm done. Mine get cleared out every month or even 2 months when I think to do clean up. I too do not allow 3rd party cookies.

my question would be how exactly did you remove McAfee because it takes a special program to do the full removal if you did not use their special tool then I would get this and use it to fully remove all aspects of McAfee which can definitely leave a lot behind and cause conflicts. Using AppRemover you will definitely want to get rid of the registry cleaner and not be using that. You can also install malwarebytes and update it and use it in full scan mode, use it weekly, it will not interfere with AVG. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (Win) - Detecting and Removing Malware

these are the directions we give for malwarebytes at download # Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. # At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. # If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. # Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. # When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. # Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. # When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt did you do the step that says be sure everything is checked and click REMOVE selected? I personally would never have Norton on one of my computers again been there done that and fought to get all their stuff off my pc and that was quite a challenge. I use Avast free for my antivirus and like it, if I were to pay for one it would be ESET Nod32 which is highly ranked. Always be sure to update malwarebytes prior to running the scans and I run the full scan weekly.

The Internet is notorious for its veil of anonymity. What is real is only what you personally know is real. Everything else is smoke and mirrors. I can assure you that if a malicious individual was intent enough, and wanted to find each and every one of us on this thread he/she could. All it takes is time, money, computer power and desire. Comments and suggestions made on this thread are absolutely valid and important. Keep your important information private. Once your information is in the wild you can't get it back. Also, even though a site is well known that doesn't make it safe and secure. I am sorry but I do mean this, trust no one on the Web. Be polite, be friendly, enjoy the camaraderie, but don't drop your guard. And I am sorry I have to say this as I love you all, but ladies you lead the pack. You are just too trustworthy. There's a couple of other forums I drop in on and I can't believe some of the personal information that's posted on the OT side. I could if I paid a lot of attention to the exchanges report where a member lives, what they drive, what time they are going to the doctor, how long they are going to be on vacation and when, what time they are leaving for the store and when they will be back, where they keep the extra key, and heaven knows what else I have missed. Take myself for example. I have been here 10-11 years now and I have shared little bits of information about myself. Not much just a little. Who is to say I am who and what I say I am? I could be very easily some vodka drinking, cigar smoking Russian Mafia hire located in outer Siberia constantly combing sites, forums and e-mail exchanges for personal data. You just don't know. As far as cookies go they are no big deal. Users confuse cookies with malware and viruses. Yes there have been a couple instances in the past, but overall they are just little packets of data which assist in the operation of the Internet; site preferences, page loading speed and log-ons to name a few. Remember use tracking is one of the ways that is used for paying the bills of the Internet. Without them sites like this might not be here for our pleasure. Be safe. The soapbox is now put away. DA

If you wish to delete the cookies daily please do, but that could be recognized as over-kill. Please do not confuse cookies, particularly tracking cookies, with spyware. In fact, many "cleaning" applications that will detect them identify them as low priority/risk.

Cookies in themselves are small bits of data used for various legitimate purposes. They actually can make your surfing faster and more convenient.

That being said, yes there have been past incidents where cookies have been malicious. However, they were rare and to my recollection it has been some time since a critter was in the wild. Apparently those with malicious intent have focused on other horizons.

With Internet Explorer: Open browser, and click on Tools / Internet Options / Browsing History / Delete [and you can put a check in the checkbox with newer versions of IE to automatically delete when you close your browser]

With Firefox: Open browser, and click on Tools / Options and select what you want to do, including setting it to automatically clear cookies whenever you close Firefox.]

Another thought, if cookies are a concern to you FF and IE8 provide Private Browsing capability. By activating and using the privilege your cookie concern would be eliminated. Of course so would History among other things.

FF is my default browser. I had not given any thought to 3rd party cookies. After reading the above info I changed the setting to not accept 3rd. party cookies. Then I had to log in each time. I went back and changed it to accept.

Is there a way to not accept, and not have to log in?

I keep mine set to not allow 3rd party cookies and I only have to log in if I have rebooted the pc. each time I return it does not require a log in for me

Okay, I went back and changed it to not accept. Rebooted and so far not having to log in.
Thanks.
