I just restarted my computer and ran an AntiSpyware scan and no items were detected.

I also have a whole bunch of stuff in my recycle bin. Should I delete these items permanently?

Do you think my system is safe now?

I assume you mean Superantispyware, yes if you updated then ran a FULL scan you should be able to feel comfortable.

You might try Ccleaner to clean out your temp files, recycle bin and other stuff. Very safe if ran at default settings.

my question would be how exactly did you remove McAfee because it takes a special program to do the full removal if you did not use their special tool then I would get this and use it to fully remove all aspects of McAfee which can definitely leave a lot behind and cause conflicts.
Using AppRemover

you will definitely want to get rid of the registry cleaner and not be using that.

You can also install malwarebytes and update it and use it in full scan mode, use it weekly, it will not interfere with AVG.

fwiw... I've tried AppRemover too many times to count & way too many times I see the whole av directory left. So I have a learned a Zero faith in it.

I used the AppRemover to remove McAfee but as Mikie says it was still in my directory so I uninstalled it there as well. I did take the registry cleaner off. I have updated Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and ran a full scan with no items showing up. Now I am getting alerts from AVG about cookies and I have a seperate post on that.

For removing any program, I find Revo Uninstaller superior. The fee edition can be found at majorgeeks.com. Remember to reboot after any program removal.
