Do you 'need' the Yahoo toolbar? You can set Yahoo as your search engine by choosing Tools, Manage Add Ons and then click on Search Providers. Choose Yahoo, Click on Toolbars and Extensions and disable Yahoo Toolbar (right click, disable). Restart IE. The problem with toolbars is that their behavior is unpredictable.

owbist, My sister has Norton Antivirus on her computer and it is suppose to take care of the Trojans. It also has virus protection, spyware protection, an inbound firewall. It has an outgoing and incoming email scanning and instant messenger scanning. She has no problems running Norton, or SuperAntiSpyware. I had her remove Ad-Aware 2007 because I believe it was either corrupt or just stopped working. She should have had 2008 but like I said her husband was seriously ill and then passed away Thanksgiving morning. She was up here when all this took place since he was brought here hoping to get him better care. I am trying to get her back on track with her computer with check disks, defrags and updates that she may have missed while she was here. Hi ravencajun, Thank you for all the information. Since I had her do the Check Disk and Defrag her computer has been faster and there seems to be no other problems. I haven't had her run another scan in SuperAntiSpyware yet, I wanted to make sure that everything was running smoothly again before we try running another scan. I do see where there is a place where she can click for a false positive if that should happen again. But before I would have her do that I will have her to uninstall and reinstall SuperAntiSpyware just to make sure Ad-Aware was not the cause of it showing something in the registry. I will look into Malwarebytes 'Anti-malware after everything else is done. I am very interested and from what you say it sounds like a pretty stable program. I will have to print out the instuctions and play with it myself before I get her involved with something new. I really prefer Opera - it's the best browser I've ever used. Far more trouble free, far more features, far more customizable You didn't say what you're using but I'm going to guess that you're using Internet Explorer. (sigh) Oh well, your risk. But first, be sure you have a good firewall installed. I like Comodo. Next, install and update about monthly SpywareBlaster. Check for Windows Updates weekly (they usually come out on Tuesday). Requiring you to log in each time suggests an issue with the cookies on your system. Go into the cookie settings an make sure they're being allowed. Especially with using IE, it's important to have a good antivirus running all the time. I like AVG free version. And you should use a malware checker regularly. I like Iobit's Advanced SystemCare since it covers a lot of bases but you should also have a secondary checker too. I like Spybot Search & Destroy and A-squared. Hopefully you got all these programs installed and set up before even going online. If not, do it immediately and run the scans immediately. For the sizing issue, it's an age-old quirk in IE, assuming that's the browser you're using. It sometimes clears itself after a couple days. You can click the maximize button (the middle one in the upper right corder), the click File, Close. If the menu bar doesn't show, press the Alt key to view it, and you can use Alt+F to get the menu. Most of the time you can use the maximize key but sometimes you can only manually drag it out and then use the File Close and live with it that way until it straightens itself out, but most of the time the max button works. It's amazing they haven't done anything about this glitch, er "Feature" since it's been causing people problems for a decade. But Microshaft knows best. At least they think so.
