Downloading super AntiSpyware and

And it's asking me if I want to allow it to make changes to this computer. How do I answer this query?

What is asking.. WinPatrol ?
WinPatrol asks approval of any changes to startup or services.

If you downloaded from SuperAntiSpyware site direct , it should be OK.

I did the download direct from SAS. Not familiar with WinPatrol. I'm expecting a book on Win8.1 for Seniors, surely I'll get it today or tomorrow. I've too many questions.

And now for the first time in over two years, I'm having a problem with the iPad, email is locked. Gotta figure that out now, thinking I'm too old for this computer technology!!!

That's the registry key that the CLSID or class Id installed to. All removed now! Then adware tracking cookie Those are a fact of life on the internet get them from everywhere. owbist is absolutely correct. Sometimes a program can get corrupted or a file in it gets corrupted and in those cases it is usually best to just do an uninstall/delete from add remove of the program and then just go download and install it fresh then try to do the updates. I have been using superantispyware for quite some time now and never seen that happen. Do you have your firewall set to allow superantispyware to access the internet? I would go into the settings and make sure you have that set to allow. Mine is set to allow so it never has to ask permission for that program.

go get superantispyware free, install, hit update, choose your C drive to scan do a full scan allow it to clean everything it finds. SUPERAntiSpyware then go get malwarebytes, install, update, scan Malwarebytes Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. * At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. then go here and do an online scan Trend Micro's FREE online virus scanner let us know how you are after that.

owbist, My sister has Norton Antivirus on her computer and it is suppose to take care of the Trojans. It also has virus protection, spyware protection, an inbound firewall. It has an outgoing and incoming email scanning and instant messenger scanning. She has no problems running Norton, or SuperAntiSpyware. I had her remove Ad-Aware 2007 because I believe it was either corrupt or just stopped working. She should have had 2008 but like I said her husband was seriously ill and then passed away Thanksgiving morning. She was up here when all this took place since he was brought here hoping to get him better care. I am trying to get her back on track with her computer with check disks, defrags and updates that she may have missed while she was here. Hi ravencajun, Thank you for all the information. Since I had her do the Check Disk and Defrag her computer has been faster and there seems to be no other problems. I haven't had her run another scan in SuperAntiSpyware yet, I wanted to make sure that everything was running smoothly again before we try running another scan. I do see where there is a place where she can click for a false positive if that should happen again. But before I would have her do that I will have her to uninstall and reinstall SuperAntiSpyware just to make sure Ad-Aware was not the cause of it showing something in the registry. I will look into Malwarebytes 'Anti-malware after everything else is done. I am very interested and from what you say it sounds like a pretty stable program. I will have to print out the instuctions and play with it myself before I get her involved with something new. Since she is not familiar with this stuff and is afraid to try something new, it is best that I try it out first and then introduce her to it. Thanks again for all your help. Aww, c'mon Grannie none of this foolish talk. Many of us here are in the grey brigade along with you.

If you are having troubles with Superantispyware then perhaps load the free Malwarebytes? Same soup, different gravy really.

some antivirus software makes you answer everytime you open a program
this usually get less frustrating over time, since you will give it permission for each program you use. after a few days, you usually use most of them, and it stops asking.

I am tinking this may be why your email is "locked"
you either answered NO for it, or, for some other reason it isnt giving your email permissions to open.

You may have to go into the antivirus menu/settings
people always forget to do that.

It sounds like the same message I got when I installed superantispyware (or any new program) on Windows 8, asking permission from administrator user account? I said yes (as long as it's being downloaded from the superantispyware site - as was advised above).

I get this message with my Windows 7 computer...if I update a program, I get the message. Since I "am" wanting the update or whatever, I answer, yes. It was unnerving at first, but I figured if I "was" making some sort of change, that is what I should do.

It happens because Windows 7 and 8 don't run in administrator mode (even if you are logged in as an administrator) by default. You should be prepared to allow it when installing software or making system changes. This is for our protection so we don't inadvertently install something that we didn't intend to install.

I believe your concern is with the W8/8.1 UAC (User Account Control). Take a peek at the link below. Down the page a little is a pink warning box. The next presentation is an example window of which I think you are referring to. If you wish to make any changes to the UAC the link shares all the options.
