Please help with my bathroom tile!
Comments (38)It all starts taking shape..))I must say I spent like 10 min trying to see the cream tile you found...)) Finally discovered it, lol As for the back splash-my contractor wouldn't let me get away from some sort of back splash..especially it's not a tiny powder room, since it has a bathtub..Activity will go there, the wall should be protected. Unless-another possibility-you take your mirror right to the top of your vanity counter. Not everybody's a fan of this look, but it is an option. As for mosaic question, I'm really not sure..color wise might be fine, but I've no idea how two different materials will work together in application..one is porcelain(or ceramics?), other is stone..I'd be hesitant to order at least until I talk to the tile guy. It's not only color, it's texture, width, who knows what else.. They didn't have bigger tiles in this soft cream, the ones you were contemplating, 4 by 10, right? Still don't know why I prefer this size in your place..maybe more modern look, less grout? Are you going to use a shower curtain or a glass surround for a tub?...See MoreHelp me select a marble counter for my bathroom.
Comments (6)Quality Calacatta is harder to obtain. You need to work with good suppliers for this. You can expect variation, as with any natural stone, but we are seeing, and perhaps due to the mining and availability right now, that there are strong variations. As for pits and chips, well that would not be acceptable. We are wrapping up a very long project and one of the baths is all Calacatta. The countertop will also be Calacatta (carefully selected from our trusted supplier and matched to the tile) but it isn't installed yet so no pictures. Here's some in progress photos. Note the third pic where we stacked the trims pieces in front of the field tile. The trims on the right were a good blend but the left was void of veining and not a good match. As a contractor with relationships and "buying power", we were able to shade all our tile in a dry lay out and return the unacceptable for replacements. You will always have SOME variance so you need to tolerate and expect this. But based on our experience we are able to discriminate between "expected" and unacceptable. It's a beautiful stone and dramatic statement if you can get it right. Good luck with your project....See MoreQuartz Calacatta Lago Bathroom Help!
Comments (11)That looks really nice. I like the gray floors and walls, and matches really nice with the Lago. In a way it looks similar to what we're doing, gray floors, gray shower floor and white step. Our shower walls are white though. Since the Covid started they just placed the tile and had to stop work. They are allowed to finish starting this week since we already had 2 inspections approved, I don't have pictures yet of my lago top and bench but hopefully by end of next week. I'll post them here as well, since I had a hard time finding examples of people actually installing this. Maybe it will benefit someone else too. Anyway, I'm glad it worked out for you, it's always nerve wrecking, you never know until it's placed. Thanks for the reply, appreciate it....See MoreBusy bathroom tile - need rug help
Comments (21)Patterns are a little limited, but I love the eco friendly cotton rugs at Hook and Loom. I have this one in taupe/white in my master bathroom. So easy. Washer/dryer - perfect. I lay back down very slightly damp so its always totally flat. It's certainly solved the issue of spray products buildup on the floor ;0)...See Morepharaoh
