I appreciate the information and suggestions. I never had the View Point media player, to my knowledge, but the Add-on was in FF, sure enough, though now disabled. I have been having all kinds of trouble, Spyware Doctor and DoubleAntiVirus installing but giving the message that they failed to initialize...well, I won't bore you with it all. I decided that Ravencajun was right, and I needed help from a specialized forum, so I posted on LandsDown, which I think Zep recommended to someone else here. Today, I discovered that something (not me!) had changed the location for my downloads in FF to "Downloads," though I had it set up to download to the desktop. Ulp! Zep: Googling trojan Hiloti was one of the first things I did after Spyware Doctor discovered it in my computer. SD said you had to pay if you wanted to remove the infected files, so I did, but no matter what I did after that, I couldn't even get it to scan again, and the registration number they emailed me, while it sufficed to register for an account at their site, was consistently refused when I tried to register the software. So far, PCTools has not replied to my emails about SD, but perhaps I haven't given them enough time. Very disappointed. The SD icon in the systray also caused TrendMicro Internet Security to hang and the mouse to freeze, so I removed it from startup, but it came back later. So, thumbs down from me to Spyware Doctor. I hope they return my money!

think I'd start with a ccleaner and check mark compact data base.... then by lookin at extensions/plugins/themes, start disabling/re-enabling something all three have in common. probably lots of same slow page loads.... Related or not? I like FF as it has been personalized with add-ons for my convenience. However, the versions released over the last several years have increasingly failed to open sites, complete a view offering, and resulting in more dead hyper-links. And many sites are important sites to me. V39.0 is now the worst with the most failures. It's not a security settings issue, and its not add-ons blocking a page's ability to load as it occurs with add-ons disabled. It's not an AdBlock issue. The effected pages work just fine in IE, Opera, Chrome, and Slimbrowser. I am approaching the need to drop FF altogether. It's been a while, but I have read other users complain of the failures and supported their wishful thinking that the next release will remedy the concern. It hasn't. DA
