if it put it in quarantine you should be ok, most antivirus programs allow you to go to the chest and from there select delete.

I would also run these 2 free programs to make sure you do not have anything else.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

Install them, update them then do the scans and let them clean up what they find.

Also I would go and run this online scan too.

Do you mean that this is the first time you've scanned your machine with your anti-virus software since you downloaded/installed the screen saver nearly 10 months ago?

Is your anti-virus engine up to date? What about the .dat files?

Could you tell also tell us the name of your Anti Virus program?

I use Avast 4.8.

I scan for virus at least once each month. This is why it is so weird that all of a sudden after 10 months both Avast and Spybot said there was a virus today.
I just installed the latest Avast last week which is the 4.8 and perhaps this is why it picked it up today. Seems so strange after all this time, for it now to find a virus with this software.

Use those 2 programs I listed if there is anything else that came associated with it they should get them.

I know that is the generic term Avast uses for several trojans and in some cases with Avast it has been a false positive, but if both caught it then it probably is.

If you want to check it out and see what it says on jotti here is the addy for you, just look up at the very top where it says file to scan, the use the browse button to locate the file on your pc and simply select it, Jotti will have numerous Antivirus programs scan it to see what they determine it to be.
File to upload & scan

Thanks for your help, I downloaded the two programs last night and did the checks with them this am. Neither one found it. I went back and did the check again with Avast and it is now gone. Boy, that was scary.
When I did the check this am with Superantispyware, it came up with 168 cookies that Avast did not find last night. Like it says it must be a Super software. I will contiue using it.
Will either of these two sofwares you recommended intefer with Spybot or Avast? I know there are some you should not have together on the computer.

I tried to do the free on line spyware check also this am but I could not get it to work. first it was because of Firefox that I use as a browser then I went through internet explorer but it still would not give me the download page. There is something that had to be installed before they would do the online check. Oh well, I am up and running again.
Now, back to the outside work. Time to clean things up for winter.

you can safely use both superantispyware and malwarebytes with out conflict with your other programs. Just remember to update them prior to running your scan. they are both excellent programs. and of course only run one scan at a time.

I also use Avast and use them too regularly.

When you say 'Spybot' do you mean Spybot Search & Destroy or some similar sounding software?

Avast did not find those cookies because it is not designed to do so. It is an anti virus program where Superantispyware looks for other undesirables.

As you were unable to use Raven's link to an online scanner try the one below but you must use Internet Explorer not Firefox for that.
