Need to remove a program

I want to delete Music match. I tried through add and remove and it will not do anything. It shows it has 50.4 mg for music match.

Then I went to the program file folder and found music match there and it would not delete from there. I got a message that says go to the add and delete

How do I get rid of this? I have several older music match and wanted to download the newest one. I installed the ones that I have on this computer when I redid the computer but it does not work I just want to start with a fresh version.

revo uninstaller

Helps you to uninstall software and remove unwanted programs installed on your computer even if you have problems uninstalling and cannot uninstall them from "Windows Add or Remove Programs" control panel applet.

I downloaded the above software, it looked on the computer for everything that has to do with music match.

The uninstaller comes up with 100's of items and says to look over the list carefully and only the ones I check will be uninstalled.
99% of these items are just numbers very long numbers. I do not know what needs to be check and do not want to uninstall something that another program is using.

Can you enlighten me on the working of this uninstaller.

AVG has a removal tool just to remove their programs I would suggest first trying that. xp pro add/remove list not displaying entire list of programs

not sure how much more descriptive I can be. the smyptoms are stated quite clearly above. the add/remove window opens up, the slider at the right is very small indicating a very long list, but beyond the first 4 or 5 programs in the list it's blank. you can move the slider, or click on the down arrow and the slider moves like there are programs in the list, but NOTHING is visible. very odd. I will follow the links provided above and see what I can see. next tuesday, I will be infront of the computer again, and I will post some screen shots. thanks, John

IE 7 is your browser what we need is what windows version are you using like is it xp or vista? This is how you get to the add remove programs area. Start> control panel> add remove programs double click that to open the add remove programs area, wait while it completes the list, then you will see the list of all things on your pc, should you want to delete or remove an item then click on that item to highlight it, on the far right a button will appear that says change/remove or something similar that is the button you want to select to delete the item, it will pop up asking are you certain you want to delete this item if you are sure then click yes and it will begin the removal process. You DO have to be logged in on an administrator account to be able to do this task.

do not panic every thing will ask you that it is just the fail safe to make sure you did not click something accidentally. If it is a program you no longer use or need then go ahead and remove it. YOU must remove it totally you do not want bits and pieces left behind any more than it already does because that can cause conflicts and problems. which is why some programs have additional specific removal tools built for them. Such as McAfee and Norton, for those you do the regular add remove programs then from their website get and use their specific removal tool to get the bits and pieces then you still have to go through and delete some of the left behind folders. but for most ordinary programs add remove does a good job. If you do not know what it is then don't delete it with out doing some serious googling on it to see what it is. If you know what it is and don't use it anymore then just do it. And remember to empty that recycle bin. It will give you room back on your hard drive and depending on how crowded your hd is that could be beneficial, it may or may not speed up your pc. Things that help there would be looking in your startup menu and seeing exactly what is starting up when the computer boots, many times there are things in there that do not have to start up at bootup. but that is a place you definitely need to do some research on what each of the .exe listed there controls. The thing that will speed up your pc most is adding RAM memory if you can and since it is pretty cheap and easy to do it is the best way to breathe new life in to the pc. AND make sure you open the side of the pc(disconnected from power) and clean out those dust bunnies on a regular basis. PS in add remove do NOT remove any of the MS hotfixes or updates.

I recommend the program a lot but have never had to use it so giving you step by step instructions would be impossible. maybe hunter mode...

I went back in and chose the very least amount to safely remove and the software removed the uninstall part of it so I was able to delete the rest of the program.

Thanks just wish I knew what all this meant. I did find that when I clicked on the plus up popped another list that told what each number meant and they were all related to Musicmatch.

loralee, when I use Revo, I use the third choice given; I forget what it's called. That way it cleans up all the fragments that the program uninstall leaves behind. So far, it has caused absolutely no trouble using it in that mode.

Thanks gradms for letting me know. I finally went back in and chose the first one and it did fine. I was able to get rid of the software and able to install the new one and get it to actually work this time.'

Revo has many applications too many other things it does besides the uninstall, on their website they have great tutorials just follow the links for each application for the user guides. It is great for finding out what is in your startup
