I love granite the natural beauty of stone. It has been a fantastic surface. I would do it all over again. Your choices are beautiful! I lean toward the European Gold but I would have to see the entire slab. Can you get a pick of the slab? Are you able to choose your own slab? Template? What kind of edge are you thinking of? Check out the link to the Granite Checklist. You may have already read it but if not it is really helpful. And I have some pictures of Cherry with golden granites but not the Euro Gold. Keep in mind granite names change a bit from different parts of the country and depending where they were taken from. . I hope they help you visulize. I only found 1 thing about the Tropical Green that I would consider a drawback--see link below. Something to remember is that we are talking about hard stones suitable for countertops & everything that happens on them. When comparing stone, some will be more fragile--but that does not necessarily mean they are fragile like glass or china. We used Caribbean Jungle in DS2's bathroom & it's beautiful. Vt - Congrats on your new purchase or what appears to be Totally agree w/rjr - This kit is funky & quirky - I wouldn't spend a dime until you are in it and understand the space/function (or lack thereof) for awhile - appliances are costly & those look like they may not have the function a working kit needs. The DW looks like a small size? a big investment in granite is not going to help this kit - blue pearl will fight all the other blues and dated elements in the space a few less costly things come to mind that I think would help 1- getting rid of the popcorn ceiling - that will be labor intensive but worth it 2- better lighting! - the fluorescent fixture is screaming dated, as is the wood trim on the cabs 3. I'd paint the wood trim the same color as the cabs - take a door to your paint shop & ask them to match the color of cabs -remove door, sand, use a stain killer (zinsser makes a good one), and paint with a high quality scrubbable paint - you could even use BM floor paint which has expoxy so it will hold up - That would make a HUGE difference - the wood totally fades into the cabs 4. Get rid of WP and paint a nice quiet light color - 5. Now my next dilemma...the fabricator said that I only need one slab since it's a pretty big slab.. 120 x 70... so I need to think about which section I should use for the island (72in by 36in).....needs to start from one of my corners....more opionions please!!!! my thought is from the top left and down 36in and over 72in to the right... do you think that'll be the best piece to showoff the slab? Please help me everyone! Again!!! : )
