Hey Zep, I need your help again, please!

A while back you "hijacked" my older machine and you ended up recommending that I add some Ram and suggested going to a website to analyze my machine and tell me what they recommended as far as additional memory. Crucial the Memory Experts doesn't seem to be working now. The site is "either unavailable or cannot be found". What should I do now?

I'm sorry. I didn't explain exactly. I went to the web site but when I try to download the Crucial System Scanner I get the message "IE cannot download CrucialScan.exe from images.crucial.com. IE was not able to open this site. The requested site is either unvailable or cannot be found. Please try again."

The leaves do look healthy but the roots and p-bulbs look badly dehydrated. It is as if this plant has never been watered properly in its life. Cutting off all the dead roots will not leave anything to hold the Catt in place in the new mix. Mind you I am of the opinion that one can grow anything in anything but I don't go against the grain just to go against the grain. Potting Catts in straight sphag is going against the grain. A bark mix in clay or plastic is standard for these and in the right light and with the correct watering they will thrive. This time of year the right light should be found outside and everyday watering in the size of pot that you will end up with (~5") will not be too much. H

Sammy, I understand Soncy, also knows as Amazone, may also be Alexander Hill Gray, which I already have. Otherwise it would have been an excellent suggestion. Randy, I didn't realize Marie Daly was so fragrant. I know what you mean about the personality of the polyanthas, though. I don't think I'd care to have dozens of them, although I do have Marie Pavie (a gift), and six Mr. Bluebirds (not strictly a polyantha). I do think that some of them are extremely worthwhile. Mary, I'm glad you like my garden and its surroundings. Thank you for your very nice e-mail. I have a feeling I'd really like Ducher but I was suddenly struck with a completely new game plan last night. I have had Marie Van Houtte for three years and it has languished, probably because its situation is too shady for it. So I've now come up with the brilliant idea of moving it to the spot where Ducher or another rose would have gone, between Belinda's Dream and Madame Lambard. In its place I'm going to plant either Mrs. Dudley Cross, to match the one that's already there in that area and seems to be doing fairly well, or Quietness, which I understand also does fairly well with some shade. It's amazing how your thoughts and plans can veer off mid course in a completely different, and hopefully more satisfactory direction. Thank you everyone most warmly for your help. Wall color is really hard to say without seeing it, but my inclination would be to put more brown into the wall color. I like light and reflective backsplashes (comes from years of dark under counter spaces with no lights, I'm sure, but why not take advantage of natural lighting even if you can supplement it?). I would not do all cream though. With the light cabinets and mostly light granite, I would want some color without too much competition with the granite. Again, without seeing it, I would be thinking of starting my search with some coppery/bronze tones (metallic or glass) either as accents or possible the whole thing (especially with glass -- if you like that look). You seem to have something simple in mind, and I think that is good. Don't do the random accents, mosaics or such that can get busy or spotty looking and compete with the granite. I had a hard time finding something simple but not too plain to go with my marble. Don't be afraid to think outside the box or search for different combinations. I wound up combining subways from one dealer with accent pieces I found at two different stores. I have two pencil liners on either side of a third (color bordering metallic). It came about after getting sample pieces of a number of different accents and sitting on the floor laying them out to compare and then starting to combine different options. If you aren't finding what you want, see if you can create it.

Hey Zep! I was able to surf around that web site and I finlly got to their recommendations for an IBM Netvista Model # 6823 desktop. It has listed 4 recommedations. I don't understand what it is saying. Could you possibly go there and see what they are recommending?

just get belarc and let it do a scan of your system it will tell you exactly what kind is on the pc and how much you can add.

Restart the computer then try the belarc link or crucial link again , sounds like you have other issues here.

Tell us the error you got when you tried to download Belarc..

Yahee. I downloaded and ran the Malwarebytes that you recommended to me before. I had 6 errors I believe, got rid of them. Don't know if that was the issue or just a restart got me going again. I was able to do the Crucial Scanner. It came up with 4 recommendations. I will probably go with the smaller upgrade for now. I think somewhere on their site I saw instructions how to add the ram. Do you think that I will be able to do it? I also did a search on Buy.com. I've bought several electronic things from them and have been very happy with my purchases. I found what looks like a comparable upgrade made by Kingston. Would I be best to stay with the Crucial as they claim to work on an IBM?

If you can change a vacuum cleaner bag you can change ram, ram modules are Static sensitive so you need to remove any built up static charge from your hands, just touch the computer case before going inside it that will discharge any static present. The Ram cards just pull out and plug in. After you install the ram you would then right click my computer icon from the desktop or in the start menu then click Properties and see if the new amount of ram is being reported by windows.

I would stay with crucial there very reputable.

ram is one of the easiest things to upgrade on a pc, most people can tackle this task. I usually buy my ram from newegg.com they have all the name brands and great prices, I have Kingston in most of my computers.

How to Install RAM to a Desktop Computer
be sure to ground yourself you can use a grounding arm band which you can buy anyplace you buy ram, always a neat thing to have handy if you ever want to do anything inside the pc including cleaning it. Also you want to be sure you put the ram stick in the right direction, do not force it, it will go in easily the right way, it should click in and the locking arms on the ends of the slot will lock shut, make sure they do that. I do unplug mine from the power also.

Thanks for the help. I did some research and found that Kingston does not work for IBM machines, so I went with the one from Crucial. So, if you say I can do it....guess I'll give it a try. By the way, I got rid of the Perfect Speed PCOptimizer. You all are such great help!
