Which Vacuum? Riccar Pristine, Sebo Airbelt, Miele Callisto?
Comments (18)geguymw wrote: "Not all China-made vacuums are bad." I know this is an older thread but I wanted to say that it's not about quality any more - it's an economic issue. You can find good and bad quality made in every single country but we have a ridiculous trade deficit with China and many other countries. Every dollar we spend on a product made in other countries with which we have a trade deficit is a dollar that never comes back to this country. This is not a sustainable model and is economics 101 - if you spend more than you make, you go crash. But regarding the vacuum, Simplicity's uprights are made in the US but I really need a canister. They have a new story from a few years ago on their flash page that says they were planning to bring manufacturing of the canisters back home from Korea. The sales person at my local shop said the canisters are assembled here but I got home and the box says Made In China so back it goes. I've emailed Simplicity and I'm going to call the shop and see what I can find out....See MoreQuestion about Miele canister vacuums
Comments (14)Lucky51, I thought I had explained quite well. It is deceiving when someone uses the meter to sell their product, then tells them they must have this or that vacuum cleaner and nothing else will work, without finding out how much of a problem allergens are for that particular individual or household. A particle meter is fine, but it is important how someone uses it and the information gathered from it. At what number is the meter going to tell everyone when they will react to allergens in the air? It is always better to first understand the customer and their needs. This also means to understand their fears and limitations in regard to floorcare and cleaning. This means to ask questions. If you noticed, I did that. Then take all that info and give them some options that would better suite them. This may also mean telling them they do not need âÂÂmoreâÂÂ, if âÂÂlessâ will work for them. If we all look through our lives, we could recollect people who have tried to sell us more than we need. Previously, I used the "antibacterial soap" as an example. What about going in to find a washing machine or refrigerator. The salesman tells us that we must have this model, because anything else is just junk. We want someone who will just say "No, you do not need all that and here is why". We do not want someone who will play on our fears or lack of knowledge. As I have commented about through countless posts, Miele even knows that there are different levels of reactions to allergens. Miele has accommodated by selling different filters and filtering systems. I give Miele two thumbs up for this. If someone has minimal to no allergic reaction, when vacuuming, why not sell them a vacuum cleaner that will filter well and save some money. Now onto the suction meter. This meter is going to detect how much suction the vacuum cleaner has, but that can be deceiving for the uninformed. You should know that suction is not the only way to tell if a vacuum cleaner is going to clean. There have been vacuum cleaners registering lower than another, but cleans better than the higher registering vacuum cleaning. I could go on about suction, but I will leave that for another time. So, using a meter to sell a vacuum cleaner can be deceiving. Do not expect every person, who walks into your store, to understand the particle meter. I explained filters, filtration, etc. You gave the poster your three readings, then told them what to get....See MoreSebo K3 vs Bank
Comments (3)I believe that you will do fine with either vacuum cleaner. The SEBO K3 is a very durable vacuum. The few things I do not like about it, is the small bags. If you have alot of animal hair,it might be an expensive investment. Personally, I do not care for the attachment configuration for using the upholstery tool(must use crevice tool with the upholstery tool). Also, there are no generic bags, if one wants to save some money. The Bank is a brand which a vac shop owner decided to create. The one model I think you are referring to was from Daewoo Electronics, and made for Tacony(Simplicity and Riccar). Tacony still uses this line, though slimmed down to one model per each brand. The only thing German is the power nozzle, from Wessel-Werk. The bags for this vacuum are very easy to obtain, since it is used for different models and brands. You can even find generic bags and filters for this model. The power nozzle on the Bank vacuum will not be as aggressive on thick carpeting, but should do well if you have quite a bit of oriental rugs. Check each one out and see which one you would prefer. Also see if you have a Riccar or Simplicity dealer in your area. Their version will have the more deluxe power nozzle. Comments (3)Each of my family members owns a Miele vacuum in their house. I currently have i think the Callisto. It doesn't have the powerbrush, but we have mostly wood floors. I did replace the normal air-filter with the HEPA air filer, but this has been running on the machine for over 2 years now and it still looks clean as a whistle. This is testament to Miele's ridiculously awesome bags. You will know what I mean when you see them. They are made out of a very dense, but breathable material, and nothing seems to get through them. (Except smells, if you vacuum something stinky) Do you really need the HEPA filter? I suppose that depends. I have very bad allergies so we do, but if no one has allergies in your home, I would imagine the regular filter combined with Miele's bags should be fine. I doubt many particles make it out of there. Everytime I replace a bag, the inside of the vacuum is clean as the day I bought it, so I don't think any dust or particles are escaping. Not I or any of my family have bought the Sealed System versions. I don't know exactly how much better the results are, but it doesn't sound like dust is much of an issue for you to begin with. I would think you would be more than happy with the Delphi. Hope that helps, Anthony Appliance Buyer's Guide...See Moregeguymw
