Click on your user name .. (maybe in one of your postings?).
That will take you to your profile page.
At the very bottom of the page, click on where it says 'Members Page'.
That, I believe is what you are looking for.

Don't believe that you will find the capability to change your user ID at this forum. The member's page will allow you to do most everything else.

I don't recommend this but I am aware of members who in the past had personal reasons to change their user ID. They just created a new user name with a new e-mail address. The forum would not accept the old e-mail address for the new user ID.

As a courtesy a couple of them even notified the webmaster requesting the original user ID be removed from the site.

On that members pages that I refered to in my first post .. you will see the link: "Edit Your Personal Information, Page, and Preferences".

At the very bottom of that page, enter your new nick name.

Oh, when you Do click on the "Edit Your Personal Information, Page, and Preferences" link .. you will first be presented a verification of your identity page.

Once you sign into that page you will Then be taken to the Change Preferences page.

As a test I tried to change my user ID with that portal and though when submitted it gave the appearances of change it did not change my log on user ID. There is no change on my user name or "My Page" hot links on this thread. We will see what happens when I submit this post.

I am very skeptical that the service on the member's page is intended for user ID change as there is no repeat verification of the new name. My basic thought is that is for a forum-based e-mail signature only.

The majority of forums that I subscribe to allow: post editing(even After being submitted), post deletion and the editing and/or deleting of all personal info.

Guess I better quit giving advice when I don't have all the facts!

this forum is totally different from the regular forums on the web that I belong to and that is many, I have not seen any other forums that use this type of format, it is extremely low tech and does not have many options(bells and whistles) at all. I agree that it is unlikely you can change your user id, or at least not easily.
It is really not a good idea to change a user id if you have been on a forum for a while if you do you lose all your contacts who know you and have to go about establishing yourself all over again. Many forums will not allow a nic change at all with out admin approval and some not even then which is why you better be sure you like the name you pick.

Just sign up with a new identity as if you were someone else. Then you can log on as you please. You can keep the same personal info. if you want, but I think you need a new email address.

My husband had to do that years ago when he didn't remember the user name he opened his account with. He rarely posts, but had opened an account to get some rose information. Never used it again and when he tried, couldn't remember how he signed up.

Just open a new account.

Yeap Bob, That is what I did many years ago ;o) My Page does not reflect how many years I have really been here.........Spike forced many of us forum members to change their names and re-invent themselves so to speak. I re-registered only so I could come to the Computer Help forum and ask questions. I didn't care about going back to the other forum because it had been taken over by idiots who Spike catered too *lol*

I might mention that was back in the day when we paid $15.00 a year to keep this forum open and sent in donations to help keep the gardening forums open. Spike sold it all and now we get pop-ups all the time. I don't know what is more annoying, the pop-ups or S**** *LOL*

I'm laughing Bob. There were a lot of us at one time or another. I resisted the urge to announce here that I was "sent to Disney" for fear that newer members would not understand what little you had to do to be bannished. In fact, I was exiled during the time when the forum was sold to iVillage. My friend Pooh Bear intervened in my behalf with the new forum monitors and I was reinstated. It sure didn't take much to be cast out.

As far as a "seniority" date inaccuracy, there was a software glitch some years ago and many dates hence forth were incorrect. I know mine is changed and now wrong, and other long-time members have cited the same. Not everyone though.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a Disneyland forum. Unfortunately some of the really good ones never came back. This is a much better place sans Spike.

I have never had the notoriety(heehee) of being banned or sent to Disney at any forums but on one forum I once belonged to the ones that kept getting banned created a forum called banned camp.

I am an admin and have been admin of various forums over time and it is a job I hate, I do not like being the one to say NO No and spank people. It is a necessity on some forums of course and needed to control the trolls.

Ah yes! I remember some people had trouble staying on the forum and others didn't bother. Paul comes to mind. He gave very knowledgeable and sound advice but sometimes a little testily.

Paul.........I remember him well. He really knew his computer stuff. Just got alittle gruff sometimes and people didn't know how to take him.

If I remember correctly Spike stayed in the background for along time after he sold this site and still had alot of power. I think he gradually backed out and maybe even retired. Back then he had so many forums, businesses and websites blocked on his forums that just a mention of them got you sent to Disneyland. And for those that weren't around at the time, if you tried to post something that mentioned one of them in a post or had complaints made against you, the minute you clicked on the "Submit" button or tried to login you ended up being sent to the Disneyland website *lol*

I can remember eight maybe even ten former members that had a rough edge to them. Shortness/impatience can be one thing, but when they went to the dark side with rudeness now that was another story.

I can remember way back when I of all people was dubbed by some the social conscious of the forum. It was a polite gesture but I was never fully comfortable with it.

Let's not let this thread go down the drain by naming names from the past.

Ah, Disney...been there quite a few times. Spike was a handful, but I sort of miss him. Certainly made these forums interesting. There were always heated arguments over on the Organic and Vegetable Garden forums. Got Disneyed a few times and then I had an argument with Spike when he started charging $15.00 to participate. There was a group who organized a protest to Spike. I signed the petition and got banned as did everyone else who signed. That lasted until IVillage took over.

I remember many of the old posters, some gone or changed names. TxKen, Spewey, Paul, Pooh, and DA and others I can't remember right now. DA, its good to see you.

Old timer here. All the aforementioned names are familiar to me. I never quite understood the resentment against Spike. He made the rules and I appreciated them. It is just like I make the rules as to what goes on at my house. I did not mind paying the $15 considering all the computer help I got here. We certainly had fewer technical problems then.

Anyway, times change and I still come here and read every day, in case something new (and bad) has cropped up that I need to know. We have great helpers here and I don't know how they can keep up with all the changes, updates, and "new stuff" that they have to deal with. Thank you to all of you.

Just remember that whatever you try on a PC, YMMV. ;>)

Ah yes Disney... had a couple of nice visits myself way back when. I've been here a long time... longer than my registered date of 2001. Back then it wasn't a prerequisite to register to post here. Back in the day this was one of the premiere help forums out there. Even paying the $15 still got you good solid advice though many of the advisors bolted to other forums. Anyone remember Sally Ann? She could always be counted on at keeping the peace.

DW was the kindest, most gentle and friendly person ever to exist on this forum. Her uncanny ability to ferret out information with search engines will never be equaled. She lacked the confidence to give information from knowledge, but she could sure point the way with research.

Though I don't like to, I can remember the times that the jackals of the forum picked on her and belittled her. She said nothing in defense and never spoke outwardly of the pain/embarrassment it certainly caused. However, her e-mails spoke to the contrary. She drew promises from we her "friends" never to take cause to defend her. She was all lady and a real fine person. I still miss her.

For those of you who did not know her you unfortunately missed a chance to associate with what my dad called a "winner".

I got sent to Disney then banned when I asked Spike why....on the garden forums not this one. He sent me a raging email full of foul language that also made no sense and blocked me.

I've always wanted to change my username to the one I use on all other forums but have never bothered.

As an infrequent visitor to this particular forum,I just came across this thread and I did not know that Dreamweaver had passed away, I'm so sorry to read about that happening. I remember her well and appreciated the help she gave to me and the kind manner in which she treated everyone.
