Dressing up Pex/Kitec Toilet Supply Lines
Comments (5)Thanks for the UV tip Mongo. I actually knew that but forgot for some reason. If it's behind the toilet and not in direct line with the window then is UV still a problem? i.e. can it bounce off the side of the vanity and then breakdown the Kitec? Believe it or not, thats a serious question. I assume some sort of tape or sleeve (chrome) would help against the UV? If I can't find chrome anywhere, how bad will the foil HVAC tape look? Better than light blue? Horrible? And what about nice flange/escutcheon plates? Anyone?...See MoreClog in toilet supply line??
Comments (1)What you describe sounds like the washer in the stop valve being loose. Since you changed the valve, that is ruled out. There shouldn't be another valve upstream in the line but it's worth taking a close look anyhow. I assume you inspected for obstruction in the tube between valve at wall and fill valve....See Moretoilet supply line
Comments (6)Thanks for the thoughts guys. There is not enough clearance with the old valve in place. But I think it is as simple as trimming the line and putting in a right angle and installing a new valve a couple of inches to the left. I hope the flange can be repaired with a kit...the base of the flange is sticking up above the floor about 1/4" and I hope this is not too high. I know that shimming the toilet and flange is an option but I would prefer it flat on the floor. Comments (8)Hi, Jake. Thanks for responding. My contractor said the supply line for this toilet can't be moved to the wall because there's a "beam under the wall." I assume what he means is that there's a basement ceiling support beam under that wall (the basement stairs are on the other side of the wall where the toilet is being placed), although, to be honest, I don't entirely understand what beam is in the way. I'm not sure if my contractor is being completely forthright, or if it would just be a hassle to move the supply line and so he gave the beam as a reason for not moving it. So my questions were: - Could we drill through such a beam and put the water supply line through it so that the water supply can still feed out of the wall? - Or could the water supply pipe/hose somehow be hidden by the Vespin's skirt? (I don't know how much space there is between the skirt and "guts" of the toilet, or if putting the supply line between the guts and skirt would even be feasible. In my mind, I'm imagining snaking the supply line right through, between guts and skirt, but I have no idea if this is a plumbing possibility.) - Or is there a toilet out there that would cover/disguise the floor supply line? - Or can the supply line go behind the Vespin? (An Amazon reviewer said there needs to be "7 or more inches between the back of the bowl and the fresh water line," but I'm having trouble visualizing what this means.) These are just ideas I had; I don't know anything about plumbing, but I know that I don't want the water supply line in the floor, so I'm hoping someone with more knowledge than me can help me out....See Moreenduring
