I hear a hum more so in room and it makes my ear goes nuts and keeps me from sleeping. its not tinnitus because as soon as i go outside i dont hear it unless its really windy. i cant figure out what it is but i have not tried any of the suggestions i read above. to make this even stranger no one else can hear it except me and the dogs but its prevelent more in one room than any other in the house. its sickening to hear it and somtimes i can feel vibrations in the bed.

@kudzu9 I've visually inspected the duct work in the attic and there's insulation around where it meets the ceiling, but the majority of the duct extends up and runs above the insulation level. You think that might affect the temperature and contribute to the condensation?

I'd never had a completely private office when I worked downtown. Distractions, other phones ringing, conversations overheard but tuned out - maybe I'm especially good at tuning out. When I began working from home, DH put a TV and nice chair in here and would watch sports behind me. Office is closest room to our garage entrance and his friends would be running in and out checking sports scores ;) Laundry is across the hall and while it has a heavy door, I never close it. I like being aware of what my laundry is doing while I work. Other side of laundry, next room is a kitchen where I also have a door I could close but don't. I can hear the timer on my stove from here and can be so concentrated on something in front of me, I'd never remember the time. I think what I'm asking is how much noise your laundry equipment could actually make, if not something your DH would quickly just find to be background noise that wasn't distracting to him. Not criticizing in any way, just wondering. When I complained to a friend about 'sharing' my office with sports loving men, she suggested I move my things to a guest room at the other end of the house. I haven't. I like the view here from the garden window and have my desk facing it. I like that I can hear my laundry progress and the timer on my stove. I haven't moved.

@David Cary : Here is info you asked : We are located in San Jose, the variation of temperature is +20 degrees between day and night. There was no wind when I hear these noises. The house took 10-12 months to build. When the framing was done along with truss installation, out work halted fo 2.5 months due to some missing paperwork and it was during summer last year so all the framing and trusses were exposed to heat for almost 2.5 months...By the time rain started in december the house was already water proof. I am trying to reach out to the contractor so that he can come and check in attic whats happening but he is not responding so trying to see if I can find someone to inspect attic.
