I can certainly sympathize with your situation...I have been without a printer for many months now because the ink cartridges are so expensive. I have a Canon Multipass 550 which has been a lifesaver in the past...being able to fax, copy and print...then when you do breakdown to buy one...install it and it still says empty cartridge, you really want to scream. But get this...the cartridge isn't the problem...it's the print head...to the tune of $50 or so and this is the third time I have replaced it and lord only knows how many cartridges were full before I wised up! Now get this....those print heads can be washed in your kitchen sink, dried on the counter and reinstalled...I sure am glad I saved the other two, i'll try that next time! But, now...I can't get the printer to print everything on the page....it prints one or two lines of the document, then skips a good paragraph size area and picks up the print again......any suggestions! and of course, it doesn't help that the manual is online and no hard copy is provided...I'm ready to do the old uninstall/reinstall thing and see if that helps! Technology sucks....here today, obsolete before noon the next day! and it wasn't a cheapee either...about $250- $300 smack a roos 2-3 years ago! Even with the cheapees....you spend a fortune on ink, that's were they make the money i guess! So what do I have to lose if the washing dosen't work......blank pages! They're all XP. And I think they're all current with patches. I'm really puzzled. I made a directory on my laptop shared and I was able to write to it from the desktop, but I can't seem to access the desktop from the laptop. So if PC A can access PC B, I've obviously got them on the same net and subnet and the workgroups are the same. So why can't PC B access PC A? I'm probably overlooking something obvious, but I can't figure out what it is. I'm beginning to wonder if my daughter changed a security setting somewhere. Or maybe Norton locked it down and when it was removed, it applied the locked down settings to Windows firewall.

maybee, I'm probably grasping at straws, but I have an HP Laserjet P1006 that stopped printing when it ran out of paper, leaving documents in the queue. Since you are probably as desperate as I was, I'll pass on what worked for me. I know it sounds silly. :) These are the instructions that I found: Raise the lid of the print cartridge area 5 times all the way up and all the way down and it will print a page with hundreds of tiny horizontal lines. After that was printed, the queue was cleared and it printed again. Just a thought and I hope it works for you.

FWIW When GW was taken over by iVillage a few years ago, there was a very similar huge uproar on several of the forums about that same phrase in the (then-new) iVillage terms. Some of you oldtimers may remember this, newbies wonÂt. Everyone (including moi) was very upset, threatened to never again post or embed photos, or write anything clever or share anything novel that iVillage might decide to legally "steal" and use for their own profits  like writing and publishing a book containing all of our threads, photos and ideas. Well, to my knowledge, that never happened. iVillage never used us like that. We may have lost a few members over it, posting was down for a while & tempers were up, but eventually the hoopla died down and people continued to post, continued to share photos, and nothing untoward happened. I am no lawyer, but I do think it is prudent for us to weigh the odds in a situation like this. Does photo-stealing happen? Yes, obviously. But how many times? How many members have found their photos from GW somewhere else? Two? A handful? Is it really worth it for all of us to stop sharing photos here  spoiling something that is an integral part of the GW community? I think not, but YMMV. At least, I hope it doesnÂt come to that. The odds are in our favor that it wonÂt happen. Could I get struck by lightning when I go outdoors? Of course, but that doesnÂt mean I become agoraphobic. Just something else to considerÂ
