'all users' screen in xp

My sister has an older Toshiba notebook with xp home ed that boots very slowly... (It needs more RAM.) Is there any way to stop the "all users" screen from loading upon startup? I've looked in System Config but didn't recognize anything in Startup that would disable it... This process takes forever and prevents one from doing anything until it loads. (My xp machine does not load this screen.)

Any help is greatly appreciated! :) Thank you.

First off, you'd need to get rid of all but one user (who needs to be an administrator). Then for the remaining use you'd have to enable automatic log-in in user accounts (off hand I don't think there can be a password for the account).

If you have multiple users or kids using this computer, that might not be the best idea.

Thanks for replying, Mike. The only other account is "Guest". I Googled how to remove a user account but when I right click My Computer and click Manage, I don't get any user accounts. I can't find any way to delete that Guest account...

Its also quite possible that the GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) (video chip) is starting to malfunction which will necessitate a systemboard replacement as the chips are not readily replaceable as a single unit

Some time ago when I tried to bypss the logon screen via some other method (I forget what it was), I panicked when my email contacts, favorites, etc. disappeared. I undid my changes and those missing addresses, etc. reappeared, much to my relief. This time when I followed Owbist's directons, I noticed that the user name that automatically came up was "Administrator" . I now know that my settings are in "HP Administrator" so I made sure to select that in the "control userpasswords2" box. As I reported earlier, the logon screen is no longer and all my settings are there. I would suggest you note the "name" under which you logon, and then follow Owbist's directions but be sure you highlight the name that corresponds with your usual longon name.

I just made one here as a trial... Not much to it. First I guess, you might want to right click myComputer and select properties. Then click the tab for Computer Name. Then click the button that says Change... If not already both a computer name, and a workgroup name, make up something that makes sense to you. And please if by chance no name exists in workgroup, please don't use MSHome. My laptop is TosLaptop, group name is ANYGROUP. (If you assign your computer an Identity name, it's wise to not name it same as the workgroup or the computer name - so keep that in mind visa/versa too.) Then go to control panel, Users, and on the initial page that opens choose the link for Create a new account. Give him a name and choose the button to give him Administrator privileges or Limited privileges.

Go to your houzz, edit profile, down to the profile information and first item is name publicly displayed. Put what you want to be displayed here as your name in there and save the changes.

It is off, Mikie... I tried right-clicking the account without success, also. No option to delete the account has surfaced...

You can't delete the guest account in XP. You can only disable it. See if the link helps.

Unfortunately, this is not easy to do XP Home... Welcome screen is turned off; Guest is turned off; haven't been able to disable the Guest account. I'm ordering more RAM and will add the extra memory on the next trip to my sister's. That screen should load much faster and eliminate the frustration it has been causing. Thanks to all for your help. It is greatly appreciated!!! :)
