avgscan = c:\windows\system32\kernel32.dll status 'changed'

18 years ago

Hey :) Hope someone can make sense of this predicament for me.

I have been faced with the same result for weeks now after scanning with AVG.

What comes listed under "virus results" is;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll

Result = Change

Status = Changed

(All above is on the 'test result page')

I have looked through the AVG help page and found no information that could help me place this file into the vault or fix it. When I perform a regular search from WinXP start menu to attempt to access the file it warns me that it could be quite risky. Me, a novice with computers, backed off immediatly.

Secondly, (whether it is a related issue or not I'm not sure), but when I receive the "registry integrity" scan results of the CCleaner it repetitively informs me of an unused Zonealarm defaultIcon key that should be removed??

Oh the mysteries!

The main reason I worry is because at times computer is ridiculously slow and sometimes even the screen fades into a shade of off-yellow. Usually after rebooting all is sorted out, but I just hope it wont get worse :(

Really appreciate any wisdom !!
