There is a new RC for FF. I believe it is entitled 3.6 RC1. If you are not sure about Flash, using FF go to adobe.com and ferret to the Flash download site. Be sure that you have the download for FF and install it. It will not hurt anything if you already had the most current version and reinstalled. DA

I took the time this morning to upgrade to v10.0. It does seem a little faster, but with my varying speed 3G connection I cannot certify that as of yet. All 12 of my add-ons were compatible. Nothing new or impressing so far with this release. Looking at the change log it seems to be mostly another developer release. DA

To open a new window, I right-click on either a bookmark or a link and that gives me several choices (Open Link in New Tab, Open Link in New Window, etc.). If I choose New Tab, it goes to the web page and shows the address; if I choose New Window, it goes to the web page, but doesn't show the address...it just shows a little, blank rectangle, and the grayed-out words "Go to a web site." However, the behavior is similar regardless of whether I am on GardenWeb or not. Finally, since I first posted, I have discovered that, if I click on this little rectangle in the address bar of the new page, the browser stays on the page and the address then appears. Interestingly, although all of my Bookmarks transferred in the update, and work fine, many of them lost the unique little icon that often precedes the name and also just display the little rectangle.

Okay, using the Firefox "troubleshooter" I went to plug ins and set and changed "shock waver" from always on to ask. All seems much better - so far. Right now the CPU Utilization is so low the processor speed, a slow 1.4 Ghz is backing down to slower speeds to save power, this is a Laptop and does what it can to extend battery life even if the A/C is attached, or so it seems. I tried to view a video on Youtube and it asked me to enable Shock Wave, I did and the video play normally and the CUP utilization was still well below the old 90% level. This my be the culprit - I wonder what IE does about Shock Wave, I'll try to find out later. Another mystery: HOW DO I BOOT IN SAFE MODE in W8? Yes I know I'm shouting but that's how I feel about Microsoft at the moment, maybe a Mac is in my future, when I'm "rich and famous".
