Hi Zep, I went ahead and upgraded to mp10 for my system. It seems nice so I'll go with it thanks. Unfortunately I still can't get the songs onto my pos mp3 player, there must be something wrong with it is all I can figure. I am able to rip songs from my cd's fine but the whole transfering them thing just isn't working. I am going to try the mp3 player in another computer at work tomorrow and I'll go from there. Remember we've had this thing for a few years just sitting in a closet with how to speak german on it so its no big loss. I'll go get another simple yet fairly inexpensive model at w-mart to learn on. I'm not giving up on this because I'm tired of listening to the boring elevator music the local station plays here in the middle of nowhere. Thanks, Neal

I hope you don't mind but I do have another question about those type of programs. I have never used Quick Time or itunes, they were on my computer when I had it built. My question is what are the purpose of these programs and what are they used for? Please give me an example. I was use to Media Player because of my music and I learned how to put some music into the Media Player. Excuse me for not saying thank you for your input above, rude! Sorry, I appreciate it. Yes, it's quite the mystery, one not answered in hundreds of articles and blogs of desperate people trying to make this thing stop. Consuming so much of their time, by the time they finally accomplished this goal, totally distracted from figuring out what the freak it was doing. I didn't forget, so if anyone offers an answer even years from now if this question is still sitting here, I will love to know. The more I learned about what this thing does, trying to get control of its' actions, the more of a mystery it became. I even deleted all of the music files at one point to see if that would do it. Nope, still sharing something. Tried looking up files by last accessed to see what was being shared but couldn't find what I wanted to know in Win explorer. I'm not much of a tweaker, just a user, more and more confused by each passing version of Windows... which always seems more and more determined to completely change everything we know how to do every time. I felt like Roy Scheider at the end of Jaws when I finally rebooted and it was stopped! Once I get back to shore on my scuba tank raft, it will be weeks before the habit of starting every fresh computer session and wake-up from sleep mode with crtl+alt+del to kill all instances of that in the task manager. I'm still not convinced I won't find it running again one of these times. There were subsequent Jaws movies, (quality notwithstanding.)

I have a hunch about why you're having a problem. I could be wrong but I don't think so. There are many different audio file formats and several are not "out of the box" supported by some smartphones or devices. One obvious one that could be used in this case might be the Microsoft "WMA" file format, since opening it on a PC has the file associated with Window Media Player. What file format does this system use? If the audio file is attached to an email, download it to your PC, go to the containing folder and look at the file type (the three characters tot he right of the "." in the file name. It could be WMA, or MP3, or OGG, or others but likely not MP3 because that's supported by all devices. Go to the app store (either Apple Itunes store or the Andoid Goggle play equivalent), search for the file type, and you'll most certainly find a free app that will play the file type. If my hunch is right, that should solve the problem. You may need to set up a file association for the app but likely not. Please report back on your experience.
