Secunia Scan...

HP Computer..IE8...XP SP3

I just did a Secunia Scan and had the threat below...I clicked on the solution and followed the prompts and it said the download was successful, but the threat is still shown...

After the update I think you have to do a new scan for the threat to disappear.

reboot the pc and try the scan again, make sure you are showing only the latest version in your add remove programs list.

Probably to just reinstall msxml 4.0 sp3 would be an easy safe thing. Java Problems - can't access, can't uninstall

When I go to that page, it does not list my system information. So I clicked each additional suggestion. No luck. Specifics are: The Firefox plugin is enabled. Nothing happens when I try to open the Java panel. It won't open. The instructions for clearing the cache do not seem right. When I go to the Edit button, I do not have a + or option to expand. So I could not do that one. I did try to find it through tools - options - advanced - network. It says I have no cache being stored for on or offline (I had just run ccleaner before =- so that cleared the cache, I think). I still selected clear now - but I couldn't tell if anything happened. So all the options either showed no problem =- or I couldn't not execute them. Any pointers would be great. Thanks. Lynn.

I just put the cursor in that area and wiggled it around, clicked a couple times and Eureka! There it was, the INSTALL box so that it could be seen. Why in the world would otherwise smart people design something like that? About the JavaRa. The message says something to the effect that if you are sure JavaRa is installed, continue. It is not in Add/Remove. What now? Thank you so very much. Sue

I did do another scan...still there. I shut it down for the night and when I rebooted this morning I got a registry change warning from McAfee (below)

I blocked the change...Secunia still shows the above threat

DLACTRLW.EXE is a valid program according to Bleepingcomputer. See link below

I still have the threat showing in Secunia, though

They told me the Adobe Air was downloaded with Adobe Reader, but it probably wasn't necessary to have. They gave me the link to where to download the latest version if I wanted to. I deleted the old one that was causing the problem....downloaded the newest version and then ran another scan and came up with a 100% score this time.

I know have an error message every morning when I boot up...this has happened after I started with the Secunia Scan and before the fix the folks on that forum had me do yesterday. Can anyone help me with this problem...if I do a system store back before I started dinking with Secunia, would that help?

I would really appreciate any help out of this little hole I've dug myself...I don't know why I don't just leave well enough alone :o(

From what I have read, it is the mistake I made when I blocked that change in my registry...again if I do a system retore do you think that would help?
