I have had my Electrolux refrigerator for less than 2 month and it is broke and unrepairable. Initially Electrolux denied my claim for replacement, but has now approved it. I am very unhappy with quality of product and customer service.

We have had a 36" Jenn-Air Pro Style range for about 3 months now and are very happy with it. As you mentioned it is not easy to find out much about the new JA lines good or bad. From our perspective we really liked the looks of it and the ease of the touch screen plus it had just as much BTU as the other ranges (90,000 total for 6 burners). Yes they are sealed burners but that was our preference for ease of cleaning along with the self cleaning oven.

Any additional thoughts from anyone on Capital-Precision?, or even Dacor Renaissance-Epicure? The Dacor may be a budget stretch for me, but I'll make it work if that model tops the general consensus.

My current cabinet allows only a 30" range and I can't launch into a total redo since cabinetry, counter tops, etc. show minimal wear and tear. I'm retired and live alone except for weekend guests, so my appliances aren't subjected to family level usage.

I'm buying this as much for an updated look as anything else, but if I'm going to drop several thousand dollars on new items, I might as well get as good as I can afford this time.

I'm also not a stickler for uniformity in branding, but current manufacturer promotional offers drive buyers to that end. Whirlpool Corp. dishwashers are fine by me. As mentioned earlier, I'm an Electrolux/Frigidaire novice.

Dacor Epicure had a lot of problems frying the electronics when you used the self clean. Capital has a good reputation if you want sealed burners and it is in your budget I would go for that. If you would like higher powered open burners BlueStar's less expensive line should be in the same price range as the Precision.

I have a Jenn-Air 30" convection gas range with the double ovens. I've had it since 2009 and (knock wood) haven't had any issues with it.

These 2 were my final brands too, for budget reasons. We went with the Jenn Aire pro 30" gas range and side by side fridge, over the elux. My husband liked the looks of the Jenn Aire stove better than the elux, but liked the elux fridge better.....but the fridge got such horrible reviews I just couldn't do it! So, based o the overall longvevity of whirlpool/ka/jen Aire, we decided to go that way! Plus, we got the free dw, $200 rebate on the fridge, and $400 install rebate. I think total cost for all 3 after rebates is about $6300 before tax.....now I can bump up my granite allowance :). Best of luck!

We also went with JA in part because of deal they offered like Christine. We were able to get (pro style) 36" range, 30" wall oven, FD Fridge and DW for around $8,300 plus tax after rebates. This included free installation and a 2nd year on the warranty for free. I know many people do not like packages but we felt this gave us best bang for $ plus we liked the look and we also used extra towards granite (did full backsplash with it).

sskit - thank you so much, as well. Jenn-Air, for whatever reason, seems to be particularly serious about converting shoppers these days. Will you provide the model number of the FD refrigerator you chose? There are three in the running for me. One is the 72" model but I'm afraid my cabinet opening may be a too tight fit for it. I haven't secured refrigerator pricing yet from local dealers, but in metro Los Angeles the Pro Style 30" all gas range is running $3799, and the included dishwasher is going for $1299.

Did either of you consider a GE Cafe refrigerator, since there isn't a great financial incentive to stay in the Jenn-Air family? They have a model similar to a 69" Jenn-Air that is available online for less than $2000. As I said in my first post, I've had good luck with all major US manufacturers I've used in the past.

Also, I reached out to Jenn-Air/Whirlpool yesterday inquiring as to who/where their products are currently manufactured. They weren't too specific, but did say that all Jenn-Air products (ex microwaves) are assembled in the US, even though select components may come from Whirlpool Corp. facilities outside the US.

I am pretty sure Jenn-aire is universal pricing, so you should get the same price everywhere!! Here are my model numbers and prices:

My cabs are custom, so the 72height will work, my KD needed to know the specs of the appliances before placing the cab order (which was just done this week). Haven't ordered the appliances yet...to get the rebates, ect. you need to order by end of the year and take delivery by 1/31/2011..according to my appliance guy.

I didn't consider the GE's at all, as I know too many people who have done kitchen renos or new builds with the profile package and had too many problems, so based on that I didn't even consider GE as a brand, I honestly have no clue what they offer!

We paid installation of $200 per appliance but received a $800 prepaid master card rebate within a month after installation. Also got an extra year on warranty.

I looked at GE Cafe but we liked this better plus DW was free with Fridge purchase. I went with 69" because it was significantly less money and we were getting custom cabinets. It is truly cabinet depth unlike some of the others I considered.

wow!! the price on that fridge is great, why am I getting the one I am getting?? I have no idea and can't remember?? I think it was the french door----didn't love it, plus I wanted ice/water in the door...could that be the price difference?? Oh well, I;m not changing my mind again....I'll pretend I didn't see the price difference!

Do you have your appliances yet? Wondering how you like them? I will order before Thanksgiving sometime, reno to start right after Christmas, Hoping I can have them delivered right at the end of Jan.

Wondering if the free DW is any good??

Christine - For some reason I think it was mainly the 69" vs 72". Plus we do not have ice/water in the door just water inside the door. We have had them for over 2 months now and are very happy with performance and appearance. Love the pro style handles and range design. The DW is very quiet, and cleans better then KA we previously had. SS interior is nice as are racks. It does take awhile to complete the cycle with energy saver. I would make sure they honor installation rebate if you order in 2011 and have them installed in 2012.

I went to a Universal Appliance (in LA) at lunch today, and saw that the 69" KA/JA FD refrig doesn't have freezer space large enough for my needs. I could do another SxS I guess, but I'm in the mood for a different look.

That means I have to go with either the JA JFC2290VEP for $3049 or the identical KA model KFCP22EXMP for $2600ish. Both are before tax (8.75% in LA county) and rebates. I can only hope that they will fit, or that I can sand a bit off the cabinet frames to ensure they fit.

The JA DW JDB3600AWP runs $1299 here, but no matter since it's the N/C item. If I opt to go the KA path depending on the range I get, the identical KA model is KUDE40FXSP that runs $1189.

I haven't completely walked away from American Range, Blue Star and Capital-Precision yet. As much as I like the Jenn-Air Pro, I can't get by my fear of that electronic window on the front fizzling out. The salesman today said that if it goes, it's about an $800 (plus labor) item. Yikes.

I knew this wasn't going to be an easy decision process, but I wish I could stop making it so difficult for myself, LOL

I know what you mean about the electronics going! At some point I had to stop doing research, give in to the fact that appliances are not going to last as long asi would like and move on! Bought the LG top loading washer/dryer back in April....and have been holdng my breath, so far so good! I wonder if some people just get lemons? Keep me updated on your choices!

You are right about the freezer space. We have a second side by side in the basement so it did not matter to us but I would not want it as a main freezer. The FD is nice though for space on the inside. The fridge does have height adjusters on legs so hopefully it works for you. I know what you mean about the screen. I really like the screen and it is easy to use and am considering the extended warranty on just the range. Like Christine said if I worried about every electronic I bought I would not have a PC, Iphone, Ipod, HD TV, etc. I have a JVC TV and Maytag Washer and Dryer that are all over 30 years old so I think with anything there is a certain degree of luck. To me this has some nice Pro options with a sleeker residential design and look.

I tend to make a science project out of decisions like this...sometimes you just have to jump in with both feet and hope for the best.

Just for grins, I stopped by the library yesterday and reviewed the Consumer Reports for July 2011, where the kitchen appliance reviews were published. They hated both the Jenn-Air and the GE Monogram ranges under consideration, and didn't offer any praise on the ICON, LOL.

Of course, their #1 top pick is a GE Profile unit that is listed on the GE website as "model no longer in production"! I howled. So much for any additional research. ;-)

Just posted this comment in another thread, but I have the Dacor Epicure, 30". I like very much--it was a good choice for me. Had it only a few months but problem free and it looks great. Cost about $3600.

@judrpr1 - Thanks for your input. Did you get the DR30D (dual fuel) or the ER30G (all gas) model? The latter of the two I listed still tempts me.
