Another try.....'Warnings 88'

Last wed, Aug.5th, I posted a question about what to do with and how to get rid of the "88 warnings" that show up on the AVG results.

Well I did do as suggested and the Malwarebyte scan showed nothing, everything was clean.

I tried to do the "Secunia Online Software Inspector" that ravencajun suggested, but when I tried to do the fixes that it showed I needed, it didn't change anything, even after I rebooted.

Then I was reading other posts and saw the one on Aug 6th by Bob414,"Startup Problems". Ravencajun suggested the "How to use the Event Viewer Applet". So I read all that and followed the instructions there and I did find the 'WARNINGS", with the yellow exclimation mark, I did not count but there were dozens and dozens.

Here's my question.......since I'm not having any problems with my system is there a way to delete those warnings while I am in the "Event Viewer" or does something else have to be done and each one reviewed and tended to seperately.

I have Vista so my screen doesn't show the "Event Viewer" just like the link information does.

I hope I have stated my problem clearly enough to be understood, if not tell me what I need to add and I'll try to do it.

As with all my problems presented here, thanks in advance for and help.

no you don't want to delete those warnings just leave them there they are just a text log. But reading the warnings and the event id info and looking it up on google will often lead you to what is causing the event.

when you say it did not change anything, did you do the updates it requested you do and did you go to the download and install the updates? if so when you go back and run the secunia tool does it still say you are missing those updates?

Raven, yes I tried to do the updates it requested but I can't figure out how to find the up dates when I get to the web site that is indicated in the Secunia Inspector.

It shows I have 4 "insecure" applications which are>

Real Player 11.x
Adobe Flash Player 10.x
(a second) Adobe Flash Player 10.x
Sun Java JRE 1.6.x

All of these shown above have the version # that I need and a link to "download" but like I said when I go to the link I cannot find that version indicated and get the updates I need.

Of course I have no idea what these programs do or if I even need them.

ck_squared, DH and I can't wait to see the finished kitchen either! We have been dealing with some serious health and financial issues for both of my parents the last 3 months, so the remodel has been a low priority. Kitchen still needs: hood, backsplash, appliance toe kicks, steam oven installion, French door stained or painted, Solyx film to obscure contents of pantry cabinets, finish light and outlet installation, painting touch ups and barstools. (At least the kitchen is close, the bathroom is still a gutted space.) I would post "nearly done" photos, but the paperwork for my parents' insurance claims and VA benefits is spread all over the island right now.

Ben, I don't want to pretend to know anything about root stocks. I am just guessing that W&N knows what they are doing. I went to my Costco after you said your Costco had them but before any discussion about root stocks. My Costco is 1 mile from me and the trees are $20. I needed some stuff anyway. Small risk vs reward if it works out. Compared to 130 miles to WAN in Poway, its about free. I just won't plant them until I get more information. I bought two other varieties from the same Costco a couple weeks ago but they must have received another batch. I'm probably not planting anything in the grove until fall as I need to do it all at once and use a backhoe. I have 32 in permanent pots and about 27 in nursery containers. 7 mature trees in the grove. I've planted 5 in espaliers along the wall in between my house and the neighbor in a 10' side yard. Most of the ones in permanent pots may stay in them or get given to friends as the others get bigger and make enough fruit.

hello, how big should 2 pendants be on 88 inch peninsula ?

I agree with RL above! we placed our pendants exactly where we wanted them after the bar went in. We have a peninsula about that size and have 3 pendants. They are spaced 29” apart and the pendants are about 7“ wide. When our kitchen was mostly done we were able to totally customize the pendant locations. I blew up balloons and hung them onthe ceiling by strings to test ideas. We centers one pendant on a window and then aligned Another with the sink and then used that distance to place the third. so it was elaborate and non standard and what we needed. we picked the pendants we liked best, knowing we were going to have 3, and then blew up balloons close to their size. our tastes are more minimalist than the current pendant trend. But I wouldn’t have wanted then any larger or any closer together. turned out perfect for us. so I agree with the above. I don’t think having locations and spacings fixed at this stage makes sense. We’d have had a lot of regrets if we chose locations sooner

On the Secunia page that shows the programs that are isecure, just click the solutions button. That is what I had to do just now after installing Secunia on my new laptop. I also have windows Vista Home Premium.

you can also go to the application or program on your pc and hit the update button on the application which will either get the update for you or will take you to the download page for the update. Now one thing to be cautious of on any of the updates is you do not want to get any of the extra junk that so many try to pass off to you in the download, so read carefully and get only what you are asking for you do not want any extra toolbars or anything.
For example for Java there is an icon for Java in control panel, you open that and go to the update button and have it do the update. With Java you do want to make sure that once you have the latest update (take note of the number) then go to Add Remove Programs and remove all the older versions of Java listed leaving only that latest one.

You definitely do need those updates all of them have some pretty serious holes in them that can open you up to attacks.
