AVG .Bin file missing Windows Vista

Good morning everyone. Since udating the MS 14 new updates yesterday my avg is sending a message I have a Bin file missing and it is not working. I have restarted the computer a couple of times thinking it may reset and it is still doing it. Can anyone help please.I have the very latest Avg running.

I am fairly certain that it is a problem with the latest AVG update because all three of my computers have each reported the same problem after updating. I tried a fresh download and that did the same thing when it downloaded its first update.

I am running XP.

My Vista / AVG works with no .bin error. It's all up to date. Think yesterday i saw a AVG popup saying download available while it was doing its daily scan... I checked for updates later on and nothing.. so it auto installed. Or they cancelled it.

There are several bin files. Some of which here are sort of turned off, or not used,,, in the configurations for MSN intant messaging as they were causing a login problem with that iM program.

Yes thanks Corrine, and you too Ravencajun. I am running admin acct. Looks like that did it, but its always easier to see on preview. (Those logs aren't easy on the eyes. Yes from what the AVG people are saying they have now got the corrupted issue fixed so if you do an update it should correct the problem. IF you did the work around you should also be able to do the new update also.

If you have Malwarebytes up date program an run it, here are instructions should you need them: Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. Click here Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application. Â Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. Â If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Â Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan. Â The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient. Â When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. Â Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. Â When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note) Â The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM. Thanks so much for letting us know. I was getting an error messages that said "Connection to the update server has failed". I wasn't sure if it was AVG or my computer. I'll wait until it's fixed and try again. Dee
